Changing loss tolerance with Formation Report

Post by Christolos »

Hi,

I can change loss tolerance levels unit by unit or by group in a given hex, but nothing seems to happen when I try to do this with the Formation Report, which should do it for the entire formation, right?

In the image below, I have set the Orders Emphasis to "Limit Losses" for the 7th Arm Brig Formation, but the units still show only one pip on the left and indicate their loss tolerance level as "Minimize Losses" when I exit the Formation Report and view each unit with its respective Unit Report. What am I doing wrong here?

I came across this by searching: tm.asp?m=4448543

It basically states, by Bob Cross, AKA Curtis Lemay, that Formation loss tolerance is different from Unit loss tolerance...but does not explain how. [&:]

I used formation loss tolerance in my Invasion Amerika to get the PO to be more aggressive. Seemed to me like it did.

17.11.8. Formation Loss Tolerance
Formation Loss Tolerances have much the same
effect as Unit Loss Tolerances have in the game.
Formations ordered minimize losses will behave
cautiously under programmed opponent control.
Formations ordered to ignore losses will behave
very aggressively under programmed opponent
control.

The Orders Emphasis setting is what Elmer will use when he controls the units.

Ok, I think I get it now. Formation Loss Tolerance only works when the Formation is controlled by the PO, right?

It would be nice if there was some global way of changing unit loss tolerances so that it doesn't have to be done unit by unit and hex by hex, especially in a large scenario with many units...

Thanks,

I agree. By all means +1.

Also, it would be really swell if in the Inventory Dialog that you could click on one of the equipment rows and be presented with all the units that has that equipment assigned to it, even if there are currently none in the unit yet.

Also, In the Unit Display Dialog it would be really cool if we could be shown the number assigned, the current number in the unit, and how fast we're making that equipment ( units per turn ). Especially for aircraft units.

Also, I've lobbied before for Night Missions for the aircraft especially the bombers.

Other than that this game is more than just fine.
