aircraft range newbie

Post by tonyscrase »

in the screen shot on the right hand side there is a column called rng and i have assumed that this is the range of the aircraft but is this the case !!!
if i was to go to the detailed aircraft page the range is a totally different number. eg mustang 1 PR is radius 287 miles. I think the scale is 10 miles per hex so 28.7 hexes

what is the reason for the difference

THANK YOU HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND

Tony,

The range in your screenshot is the range from the Staging base to each air group listed. This information is useful for at least two reasons:

1. The game doesn't always pick the best/most efficient staging base, so based on seeing these ranges, you might want to change the staging base so more air groups (particularly escorts on bombing missions) can participate;
2. Related to that, seeing which air groups are greyed out may tell you that if you change the loadout (e.g., add external fuel tanks), you'd be able to add them to the mission.
