I wouldn't see this result as any proof of Axis superiority, just how bad I still play this game. As a result I wish to withdraw from the tournament.

Hi, YohanTM2 (Axis) defeats PJL1973 (Allies)
It was an interesting game in terms of variant strategies but most of the UK had fallen before Russia could enter the game.
I'm curious... does the allied player surrender if Germany takes over the UK island? I thought the British hold on Eqypt (and Africa I think) was enough to keep them in the fight? I dunno much. Did German units get worn down much in the UK invasion? I'm wondering if the cost of the invasion would reduce their ability to field enough units against both Russia and defend the west against landings by the USA. I'm just thinking about this stuff cause I haven't experienced any of it myself.

If UK holds Manchester, Cairo, Toronto the capital can move to Cairo or Toronto if it comes to be.
If one of Manchester, Cairo, Toronto is in Axis custody, then the UK will fight to the death on their island and will surrender if it loses London-Manchester-Edinburgh.
If it surrenders, UK fleet will stay in the fight as 'free unit' (a bit of an odd design choice there), as well as 50% of land and air unit.

Thanks Korut that's interesting. I think the remaining units called free units is realistic cause the French and Polish units were like that after losing their homelands.
Is is usual for the allied player to surrender if loses their island but their capital is Cairo? I think they could still fight on especially cause USA and Russia are still full power.

Please don't withdraw. You can suspend (not play anyone) until you are better. Or you could play me I am 2 losses one for either side. My mistakes are I played to many games against AI. makes for many bad habits.

I hope you stay in, I think the win was more by "shock and awe" then a convincing win - I had was very weak for Russia

I'm up for joining this. Would like to play as Allies. Will probably lose, but I keep wanting to try out new strategies and tactics, and I am learning new things in each new match.
If you ask me it is just a question of what you want. If you want to win, play unranked games. If you want to improve faster, play ranked games in the tournament.
Why? Because then you will most likely meet players with better skills. You will see, learn, adopt, develop and make own plans and learn much faster.
And to be honest... I play ranked games to and I am still new to the game and learning. And I still try out what comes to my mind (with a devastating result in my actual game). But it is still fun to see how the game evolves.

Devastatingly effective or dismal failure? What did you try? How about a German amphibious invasion of Iceland? Or a landing in Canada to shut down that ongoing supply of money to the UK? I think Brazil needs to be invaded too.
RE: Official Tourney Pyramid Thread
99% failure
in SC2 it was better to make a very slow approach when you do a sealion. I did, it was successful and my plan was to gain control in whole Europe. Spain joined, Vichy and all its friends conquered. Iraq, Iran, Syria, even Switzerland and Ireland. Everything under German control.
I thought I would have a big MPP advantage. But no - the USSR is still producing more than I can destroy. I was unable to make enough progress (also due to some stupid planning and great diplo success of my opponent). Now the advance stopped, I even lost some ground again and the USA are already back in Iraq and Ireland.
My plan to make it a longer war but a "safer" one was just a safe way for the USSR to get its steamroll going and now it won't stop. I thought I may produce around 1800 - 2000 MPPs with all those countries conquered. Even on industrial tech level 5 it is "only" 1300.
Lesson learned.

It sounds like you had a lot of fun doing all those unusual invasions. It's good you are thinking outside the box. That 1300 income is quite good I think but I know what you mean about the deadly Russian steamroller.
What is SC2? Is that the earlier game before this newer Strategic Command game? I'm very new to this game as you can probably tell from my noobish ways.

It's an ongoing ranking thing, you can join in and drop out whenever. I'll pen you in as an active player.

MrLongLeg,
I just finished my second game both losses.

4. If a floor has no players on it or that all players are locked in a game, two participants of the floor just under it can have a game where the winner moves to the upper level.
Don't we need to challenge somebody from one layer up if there is somebody available? I see YohanTM and johan.. available.
