Well, if they can accurately "visualize" this battle on screen I'll be perfectly happy to watch an hour of fluff to get there. I'd be so much more interested if this were the crew behind BoB and The Pacific, though.

Wouldn't that have been cool? Alas, my friend, 'tis not so.

I almost swore off war movies when I saw Indianapolis: Men of Courage. All war movies. It was that bad. I think I might have to see the reviews and read some stout-hearted colleague on this board's opinion before going myself.

I have a stupid question: Why is this of interest NOW? The article is dated a year ago.

Oops I referenced the wrong article. Here's one from May of this year.

I'm sorry to be a skeptic, but I've got a bad feeling about this already. [:(]
Another movie that shall not be mentioned?

This new battle of Midway will heavily suffer from comparison with the 1976 movie, which was actually a great movie, and cannot see what this new version can add more...

Taking about comparison, and why original version is always better, as an example with the Dunkirk Nolan movie, i would recommand you to watch the 1964 movie 'weekend at Dunkirk', originally named 'week end a Zuydcoote', i am sure you can find a version in English somewhere....

check this youtube link ;)
Dunkirk vs Week End a Zuydcoote

A very interesting subject for a new war movie would be about Operation Catapult, an event almost forgoten during the war but which could make a real good plot : lot of suspens, drama and action, and i am sure you can add a love story between a british naval officer and a french woman whom brother is serving in the french navy...;)
(need to find how to involve some US characters to attract some Hollywood producers ;) )

If they have a woman in a major part that means the movie will suck.

Eh, its Hollywood, and they're into making money, not documentaries. We'll see.
Indianapolis: Men of Courage.

Missed this one. I think because of the forum. If so, from what I know about the movie... Thanks guys.[:)]

Hollywood has yet to make a war movie with a cast composed entirely of women. [:D]

You owe me one then. That means *you* have to go see the new Midway movie and report back to us. It's the least you can do after [shudders] that movie.

Well that depends on whether the woman is in the major part or the major part is in the woman....

There are indeed movies featuring women in leading roles. As a public service I bring you this:

It only looks like Bob Newhart because it is Bob Newhart. Nevertheless, this particular Bob Newhart movie will likely be better than any proposed Midway movie.

We know Hollywoods likes to 'invent' things in movies, wonder what it will be in this one. How about, the Japanese win?

Isn't Midway an Albatross (Gooney Bird) colony now? Maybe they could have an albatross fly into the prop of a Kate making a torpedo run on Enterprise, sacrificing itself for the promise of a future bird sanctuary. Dr. Doolittle could handle the negotiations prior to the battle.
