On turn 226 Willie was able to cross the Dnepr River just north of Chigirin. On turn 227 I moved parts of 2 panzer divisions to counter attack and was successful in moving onto the island in the middle of the river cutting off the 4 tk bde, 1 mech bde, 1 mot bde and 1 pontoon regt.

This is the end of turn 227. The bad news is that only 1 Bn made it onto the river.

Now on the start of turn 228. Now ever you will have to wait until tomorrow night to find out the results. I still have a lot of other units to attend to and it it now 2345 and I am off to bed.

Historically the Soviets were exceedingly difficult to dislodge from a bridgehead.

Have been tied up for the last week. I have started my counter attack and taken the river crossing and cutting off the forces on the east side of the river. Have now planned the attack to destroy these forces

CENTRAL RUSSIA

The Russian have began their attacks on the German front line, they expect the German resistance to be tough but mother Russia has plenty of reserves to offer up to the battle.

On turn 228 Willie was able to retake the island in the middle and move some of his forces back across the river. On turn 229 I was able to retake the island and destroy the forces on the west side of the river. The pictures above are from Willie's turn 229.

This is the start of turn 231. Willie has broken through my first MLR and surrounded the 34th Inf Division and part of the 18th PzGren Division in one pocket and 1 Regt from the 18th in a pocket by itself. He was trying to create two more pockets but has run into my 2nd MLR which has stopped his break in units. To the south just off the picture I have the LSSAH Panzer Division and part of the 4th Panzer Division. I will this turn mount a relief operation to recover the surrounded 34th and try and surround the 2 tank corps. That will have to be tomorrow night as it is now 2345hrs

This is the position at the end of turn 231. I have been able to recover the surrounded units, destroy the two tank corps and surround the 4th GD Mot Reg. The units surrounding the 4th are not that strong so I think Willie will be able to recover it during turn 232 which I have just now got back from Willie. I will load it shortly and post the opening picture.

This is the start of turn 233. AGN is under pressure. Willie is slowly pushing me back. He is now on my 2nd MLR. The 3rd and 4th are not complete and I my have to fold the 3rd back into the 4th if Willie is able to break in. My concern would be my left flank. It would be swing in the air. My right flank is secured by a MLR running north / south

Each turn Willie has been able to make small pockets with up to a division inside it. I have 3 panzer divisions in the area and have been able to mount a relief each turn.

This is AGS. Willie has been very slow moving up to the MLR. As can be seen the MLR between Zaporozhye and Mariupol is very deep.

The start of turn 234. Willie has broken in and coming up against my 2nd MLR. My plan is to allow the MLR on my right to roll back and meet up with the 2nd MLR
