Football - the beautiful game [:)]
I wish I could agree with you. And for a while today I actually thought so. But 15 minutes and 3 allowed goals and my sentiment changed. Football, is dumb.

Definitely a new goalkeeper [X(][X(]
I hope they are on the phone to Roma already for another one of their players.

That's not a cash prize to the winner - they are talking about the money involved in the Premiership.

Now, no real interest in the League 1 play-off (although probably want Rotherham slightly more) BUT the big one on Monday:

Come on you Grecians!!!!!

Thank you.

Still, that is a scary amount of money. Might cause some people to go bananas and destroy a team.

Since I am not allowed to speak about bought players, and foul play, I will refrain from doing so.

RT so take with a pinch of salt [:D]

Not sure why this qualifies as good news. Good news for him, and his teams, I am sure.

Some football fans like to watch good football. And it's the talented players who deliver that. Salah happens to be one of them.

Salah might very well be one of them, but since you singled him out I thought it was more than that.

Hard to ignore his game-changing injury (the final last saturday), which seemed horrific. If something remotely similar happened recently, I am all ears.

I didn't know about the injury. And even if I did I wouldn't have been that interested. Although perhaps I should have been.

Anyway. I am glad that you are glad by this news.

Well, er, this is the football thread. And there was a massive final last saturday, the most prestigious title a club can win = the Champions League. A key player was injured (game-changing IMO) circa minute 30 IIRC.

But you missed that one (the match or post match analysis)... okaaaaay.

Yep. Couldn't be bothered to be interested. The only thing I read about it was in this thread. Although I got a verbal accounting of the match from a friend but he didn't mention the injury.

Friendly International

England 2 Nigeria 1

Proving once more that it does not matter if you are playing for Braintree or playing for England, once you switch off it is extremely difficult to switch back on again.

Spain sack their manager, Julien Lopetegui, following the announcement that he is to be Zidane's replacement at Real after the World Cup. Spanish Football Federation president, Luis Rubiales, said, “I don’t feel betrayed. Lopetegui has done impeccable work. How all this has been done is something else."

The World Cup begins tomorrow with Russia v Saudia Arabia and Spain's first game is on Friday against Portugal.

In other news, USA, Canada, and Mexico have been chosen as the hosts for the 2026 World Cup. FIFA are increasingly desperate to make sure that USA qualify for World Cups since it is now obvious that just being in CONCACAF is not enough help to the Americans.

Best wishes,
Steve

Heh - yes I suppose it's technically true that the World Cup begins tomorrow with the match betw the Russians and the Saudis. But really, since both are awful and this match is likely the only chance that either team will have to get even a single point, let's just say that the WC REALLY begins on Friday with the match between Egypt and Uruguay. And yes, Spain vs Portugal will be worth watching! Can't wait. . . .

I prefer to think of it as the World Cup begins tomorrow and the fun starts on Friday. [:)]
