INVADED
Batavia, Changsha are also invested.
CHANGED OWNERSHIP
Overall
• No carrier contacts.
• Sub activity around India has increased dramatically in the past few days.
West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• The large troop convoy has broken contact as have the other convoys. The ASW TF's also have no contact.
Pacific
• Ships passing through.
• Possible sub north of Fiji.
New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Fuel unloading at Wellington.
• We are racing to pull as much Resources as possible from Port Hedland and to get as much supply as possible into NW Australia via Darwin.
Philippines
DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• These were CD unit remnants ejected from other bases.
• I am not going to post every unsuccessful sub action, but this will serve as a note there are now frequent contacts in the eastern DEI.
China
• As predicted.
• The fairly depleted 35th Chinese Corps moved into this hex to cut off an Imperial unit which had moved to the west. Another Imperial unit arrived here first, bombarded, then waited until the forward unit came back to register this attack. The lack of retreat from 8 to 1 odds for an inexperienced unit is a nice surprise - they made their saving throw!
• Changsha fortifications are now 5 and building will cease.
India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• Still a sub near Karachi and at least one near Colombo, probably two or more.
Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia
• Quiet.

RE: 1942 April 29
Well, the japanese advance into the "usual targets" seems to be proceeding rather expeditely.
So.... where do you think the hammer will fall?
I am curious. How do you read the situation? Do you foresee any major invasion outside of the hystorical japanese perimeter? India, Australia, West coast?
It's fun to read speculations [:D]

RE: 1942 April 29
Walter favors the more or less historical perimeter boundaries while spending the energies available making the game won from there by making it too hard for the Allies to break through (within the time and victory point structure). In general he believes many Japan players hurt their game by expanding too far. This does not extend to China, where capturing all of it frees up a great many Imperial units.ORIGINAL: Drakanel

None of that means he will or will not do a given thing in this game.
I do presume we will see an adventure in NW Australia to provide a buffer for the eastern DEI. Further areas would be just to chew up time as the Allies work through them: Perth? Ceylon? Calcutta? Madras? New Caledonia? Fiji? NE Australia?
Those last three I consider unlikely at this date, unless something really bad happens to the US Navy. Watch the Allies' summer invasions! Ceylon would be in the 'obstruction' category. Calcutta and Madras would be to capture industry; use it for a while; leave the Allies with less supply generation forward.
In other words, I have no idea! [:D]

Japanese forces CAPTURE Bhamo !!!
Overall
• No carrier sightings.

• The large troop convoy finished unloading and already has departed Pearl Harbor for the return trip to San Francisco. Routing has been changed to avoid where they were sighted before.
Pacific
• Sub activity near Suva.

• A lone IJN DD moving SW through the Solomon Sea.
Philippines
DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• 5th Cav Sqdn was sent to wait for the Imperials to advance into Soerabaja then block the road behind them. The wary enemy has flankers!
• Apparently the invaders at Ambon have had second thoughts and called for evacuation.
China
• Done. Soon to be undead.
India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• First the raid encounters and destroys three very valuable ASW ships.
BTW, I count 14 torpedo hits between those two battles; the torpedoes are credited with 6 ships.
• Colombo has 186,864 Fuel and 438,822 Supply. No need for more in the near future, so convoys will not sail to Ceylon for the time being. The other two ASW TF's protecting the area will withdraw to Bombay.
• Sub activity from Karachi to Colombo.
• They retreated into China.

Overall
• No carrier sightings.
• A sub-heavy day but without any carnage. All the sub combats and mentions are shown today.
West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• It now appears those subs recently encountered were on their way to patrol areas. This encounter is on a very normal convoy route with SF.
Pacific
• Quiet but subs afoot.
New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• The thing I really hate about PB's is they look like merchants in the animations - a target, yeah! - then my sub is the one getting shot at. S-27 will return for repairs.
Philippines
DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• Ambon is always a tough customer and might hold for a couple more goes.
• I presume this battle group was passing into the Indian Ocean.
China
• Only bombardments today. The Empire is working to clean up stragglers (aka make undead). In at least spot we see progress. In the west those Imperial units which crossed a river into our defensive position have now completely withdrawn back across the river.
India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• A repositioning ASW TF ran over a sub but it went deep (or something).
• Even good torpedoes miss sometimes.
• A few ships sailing singly without escort slipped through.
• Australian 18th Bde and 2/2 Pioneer Bn will rail from Ledo to Chittagong. Ground security of Ledo is now primarily up to Chinese Army units.
Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia
• Quiet.

This encounter is far south of San Diego, in fact almost east of Pearl Harbor. The Empire grew weary of positioning subs on empty convoy lanes and took steps to find our convoys lanes. No we shall move them. That large troop convoy (now empty and returning to SF for another load) was going to pass through this area but will divert completely instead.Sub attack near San Francisco at 209,87
