Prevent shattered fronts happenning too early

When I play the 1943 campaign, even when I add units to the western and southern fronts, they still shatter. It is most irritating when the western front shatters in 1943!!! How in the hell to I prevent this irritating premature shatters from Happenning. ?

Can anybody help before I take my War in Russia CD and use it as a frisbee? I have had this for years and the shatter thing really pisses me off.

Hi Mike,
Do you have enough SS Divisions in your HQ's I think you need about 3-4 in the west front to prevent it's value being halved! in 43
This may be the problem???

Rick told me about a year ago...that there is no longer a requirement for SS tankers in the fronts.

When you say "CD" of WIR....it leads me to think you are using a commercial version of WIR. My 3.5 inch diskette copy was about 1990 edition.

From having played the matrix version....i have come to respect that there were many hidden "cheats" in favour of the computer...so as to make the game "challenging". You must remember and consider the limitations of a DOS based game with only 640K(this is K not Meg) of memory...for DOS, mouse, printer drivers, video drivers etc. SSI was known for being a major CHEAT.

While i have yet to experience it(been only playing a year with Matrix version), the south and west fronts supposedly give you at least one if not 2 turns warning that the front is in desparate need of troops. My version 3.2 game is into Mar 43. As German, I have some 4500 strength points in the west and 3500 points in the south. Note that the equation is different from what is in the documented book you got with the game.

While i can feel your frustration and disappointment with a game you have likely spent a lot of time on....i do encourage you to preservere with a matrix downloaded version. Another group has something called Possum v6? which supposedly gives the Germans a better chance.
