coastal air force

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

There are a bunch of planes with NAVAL ONLY in their description. Most of them (well, in that scenario pretty much all of them) will be in Coastal air force.

You can:

A) Do nothing. They will automatically fly out and do naval patrol putting naval interdiction numbers in the sea hexes they can reach. This will allow your shipping to (mostly) run unmolested.

B) Make Naval Attack missions. They can only be assigned to Naval Attack. They will do the same thing as the auto naval patrol, except you can define exactly where that will be and concentrate it if you want. This will be useful in areas you are invading to lower attrition casualties.
