INVADED
Batavia, Changsha, Ambon, Soerabaja are also invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• KB1 1 hex east of Wessel Islands.

• Radio Free AAR is claiming DD Hatsushima was sunk during the invasion of Horn Island.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near San Francisco, Pearl Harbor.

• A large tanker convoy is loading at Los Angeles for Australia.

Pacific
• Ships passing.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Enemy sub activity near Sydney, Perth.

• There was lots of minor action near Horn Island involving our submarines. In addition to those newly routed to the eastern side there were and are several returning from patrol in the eastern DEI to replenish at Brisbane. There were a number of encounters but all were without decisive outcome. KB1 has moved westward (near Wessel Islands) no doubt to avoid submarines. A convoy is to KB1's NE heading west, destination unclear; perhaps to invade Australia's NW coast; perhaps just passing through. A TF, possible cripples or maybe surface escort left behind is just west of Horn Island. Another convoy is just SW of Port Moresby heading NW; maybe bringing support units to Horn Island. That convoy was attacked numerous times today by B-17's (untrained in naval attack) but weather prevented a much greater number of flights from finding the convoy. They scared a lot of fish.

• Real or disinformation?
20th Division is planning for an attack on Perth.
The USA units held in reserve at Melbourne are moving to the Perth area.

• Fuel unloading at Wellington.

Philippines

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• Still fighting but with very little.

China
• Hopefully this will slow down their incursion.

KB1 is highlighted. To the NE is the troop convoy from Horn Island. Near Horn Island is either a surface TF or a convoy of cripples. Near Port Moresby is a convoy.

George, I was wondering if you could post a strategic map showing base control ? My game is about a month behind yours ( April 11, 1942) and I'd appreciate the chance to compare your map to mine.

India is getting pretty strong now, at least defensively. There's so much territory Japan could just run amok through it, of course. The big centers are difficult targets now so would take a serious commitment and - I hope - time for each.

The Perth preparation could be disinformation for sure. Perth has pretty decent CD guns in a fortress. Could be an invasion would suck it up and go in, or one division would prepare for the main target but come in through another (but lightly defended) port captured by other units. I'm not thinking a operation against Perth is certain but giving the Empire a bloody nose by defending Perth is easier than giving them a bloody nose by retaking Perth at this stage.

Thanks ! Interesting to compare the similarities, and the differences. My opponent has been fairly quiet in China. I still have Wenchow, Chusien, and a few other port cities. No threat towards Changsha or Sian as yet.

My biggest issue will be the loss of 3 CV's. I was escorting a major troop convoy to Luganville, and was close to a portion of KB without detection. So I took a risk on a CV engagement, and it bit me in the butt. CV Saratoga reacted, the others didnt and so she was by herself and took a beating. Then the next turn my search failed to find him - but he found me. That killed Enterprise. I thought Yorktown would sneak away, but 7 Kates found her with no CAP able to fly and that was it for her....

Not too sure about the heavy cruiser, but it looks promising that some IJN destroyers are mapping the sea bottom.

I don't think India is at grave risk since you still have the islands...not sure what Japan is up to based on the bases captured except for one idea....

The Yamoto might be undergoing sea trials right now. I am pretty sure she is fairly easy to reload in this mod with an ake or three.

Hmm. Of course they have some other potent battleships too and needn't risk exposing the Kongo's to shore fire.

Yeah, India is a hard target to do anything significant against.

What I am most concerned about is the first series of invasions in ~2 months. But it would be awesome if the big fleet carriers and battleships to match were worrying Perth!
