Can you post your log files? They are in the logs folder.

You have not applied the 2.01* upgrade properly.

From your log files:

rober@Rob10rto /cygdrive/c/Temp/0FFEC8F978734D77811770A95B58D15A/logs
$ head -n 5 frontend.log engine.log; echo; tail -n 2 error.log

2018-07-02 22:28:15 Middle East.exe: [ERROR ID 100] (GrafX.cpp, line 263, BUFF::ThrowImage()) FrontEndControls.bmp not found

You appear to be running the 1.02 me.exe. In 2.0*, the game engine was renamed to meengine.exe. In 1.02, there indeed is no file FrontEndControls.bmp. That file was introduced in 2.00. Etc., etc.

My best guess is that you applied the 2.01 update to an existing 1.02 install. That is a mistake. CSME 2.0* is a fully remastered game, and entirely replaces CSME 1.0*.

As described elsewhere in the CSME Forum, you need to:

[*]Completely uninstall any earlier 1.0* version. Use the Windows Add or Remove Programs feature for this purpose.
[*]Install the game afresh with CSME 2.00.
[*]Apply the separate CSME 2.01 update.

Good luck next time around.

I tried to follow your above instructions regarding these error messages. Accessed My Page on Slitherine to install CSME 2.00. Google blocked access. Goggle explanation:

Please advise how I should proceed. Thanks.
