Hot Patch Version 002.08.09.02

Post by Shannon V. OKeets »

Attached is a zipped file that contains the new MWIF.exe: version 02.08.09.02. It also contains the Release Notes shown below.

The primary reason for this hot patch is to fix two problems.

===

Release Notes for Version 02.08.09.02
(changes since Hot Patch 02.08.09.00)

All Modes of Play

1. Made a change so determining which side is attacking/defending in air-to-air and antiaircraft combats is made at the start of the combat instead of dynamically as the combat proceeds. Later in the combat, one side might have had all its air units aborted/destroyed, so determining the major power leader for a side isn’t possible. The previous code created a fatal error when one side decided to abort from and air-to-air combat when it had no air units remaining. This change fixes that problem.

NetPlay

2. Corrected a problem with opening the NetPlay forum Seeking Opponents database. This code hasn’t been changed in 5 years - but the data in that database changed recently, exposing a flaw in the code.

Thanks! Looks like this patch fixed the two issues I had with carrier planes returning to their carrier and with aborting an naval air to air battle. Thanks again. [&o]

There is still a problem with returning carrier air units to their carriers.[:@] I am working on that this morning. Currently, I am guessing that it has to do with more than 1 major power having carrier air units to return to carriers after a naval air combat is completed.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your hard work.

This patch has a new bug, unfortunately, perhaps caused inadvertently by fixing the Vichy France dynamics.

The systems draws a US chit for each of France and CW, after the automatic DoW in S/O 39. This is not fatal, but it sets the game on a difficult path for the Allies.

Did this ever get fixed? I'm not sure that upgrading netplay is as important as getting the basic PBEM game working which is what most people are using I think. Thanks.

Played Barbarossa solitaire on release and have reinstalled today after three years.

Patched with big patch and only latest hotfix, which is just a new exe.

Set up to play Lebensraum solitaire and get error right away that my email program isn't set up. What might I be missing here?

Thanks!

The roadmap for continuing development was established years ago. Basically it is:
- fix bugs in Solitaire
- get two-player NetPlay working
- add missing optional rules
- AI

There really isn't an official PBEM mode. Players have established their own methods to do so by exchanging saved game files.
