An Italian Sub spies at Mersa Matruh and sees O'conner's HQ in the Egyptian Town.

Franco alows use of Some spanish ports.

At tech parity, that sounds like unattached units. For the UK the air war is Montgomery (with Command tech level 2) or bust.

Allied Turn July 28, 1940

Previous Axis Turn:
Clear in Europe.

Air battles over and near London favor the Luftwaffe. A few hits are scored against the German Fighters, a group of Condors (Maritime Bombers) takes damage from AA fire over London and a
wing of Medium Bombers takes hits from both intercepting Spitfires as well as AA fire. In exchange UK casualties are heavy with 2 wings of Spitfires reduced to half strength as well as the air wing
of HMS Courageous.

More German naval units (presumably subs) are traversing the Gibraltar loop as the German naval count shrinks from 9 to 7. Most likely the 2 subs returning to the Atlantic.

Italy chips in for her own Major Power Diplomacy chit. [8|] So now I'm down 2 active (and 3 overall if you count the one that fired in the fall of 1939).

Bombers attack the Polish Corps in Portsmouth, with AA fire damaging a Maritime Bomber and 2 Medium Bombers.
3 sets of German paratroopers land, and finish off the defending Corps without taking any damage.
A German Panzer is then deployed into the city.

Rosevelt condemns the German landing in England (+13%).
Stalin is yet to be concerned.*

7th Armour is deployed at Manchester.

Parliment agrees to the USA proposal to swap Carribean bases for Destroyers.**

Top secret emergency plans are made to move the government if the worst should happen.

British Naval command, operating on intelligence from MI6 (which was itself provided by O.S.S.), orders HMS Glorious to strike Scharnhorst in Calais.
Land based Spitfires escort the SWordfish and are intercepted by German Me109s. This time the English come out ahead in the battle:
UK FTR 1 dmg, Glorious Air Wing 1 dmg, GE FTR 3 dmg, Scharnhorst 3 dmg.

HMS Parthian then manages to get close enough to do a further 1 dmg to Scharnhorst before moving near the Isle of Wight.
HMS Salmon joins HMS Parthain and the 2 subs blockade Portsmouth. U-47 is spotted north of Cherbourg.

Another brutal air battle occurs over Portsmouth. This time the Spitfires are escorting Sterling heavy bombers, and run into another air group of Me109s:
UK FTR 3 dmg, UK Hvy Bmbr 2 dmg, GE FTR 4 dmg, Portsmouth 2 dmg (reduced to a 1).

The Sterlings fly another raid, unescorted and encounter a 3rd group of German Fighters. Both take 1 point of damage and Portsmouth is reduced to 0.

The FNFL Triomphant joins the Free French under British command.

Free French and UK forces raid Dakar in operation Menance, but fail in their objective to capture the gold reserves. Tunisia protests the attack.

*The USSR script didn't fire. Oddly the USSR script says 1-2 units within 1-2 hexes of ...
Does that mean it may/may not fire with only 1 unit within the range?

**I may or may not get them all (or maybe after they will show up later if the Isles are liberated?), but at the least it was a 2% morale increase
and the USA can pretty much send the MPP back via Lend Lease.

Did better than I expected. A bit of luck and a bit of a rest for my pilots goes a pretty long way.
Now I just badly need the famous English weather to show up. If there is another Fall/Winter/Spring of the Luftwaffe flying nearly unhindered the English goose won't be cooked, it will be microwaved dinner'ed.

There is a Panzer in Plymouth and 3 Paras around it (1 to the NW, 1 to NE, and 1 to SE)
2 UK subs are blockading the port (which should drop from level 2 to level 1), and the city of Plymouth itself is at level 0 at the end of my turn.
There is also a GE Sub north Cherbourg, 3 GE FTRs south of Normandy, and Scharnhorst (str 6) in Calais.
A UK Corps in Bristol and London, a UK GAR in Oxford, Dover and NW of London.

Allied Turn September 8, 1940

Previous Axis Turn:

The German Maritime bomber scores a big hit on HMS Parthian, doing 4 damage. A 2nd attack causes the sub to dive. There is a 3rd attack by a German Destroyer that causes another dive.
HMS Salmon is attacked by a German Destroyer to no effect.

The Panzers move north out of Portsmouth and do 4 damage in 2 attacks to the elite GARR in Oxford. The low supply value of the Panzers probably saved the GARR, but it is a shame they couldn't get a hit back.
The Panzers then move east a bit towards London.

The Garrison in Dover is hit by 5 unintercepted bombers. The improved AA equipment (lvl 1) assigned to the GAR (and to the town) scores hits on 3 Medium Bombers, but in the end the Garrison is obliterated.
Both a German Army and an HQ then make landfall at Dover.*

Just west of the English Channel, near the Scilly Islands, 2 U-boats and an Italian Sub engage in one on one battles with 3 destroyers:
U-boat (str 10) 1 dmg, HMS Jersey (str 9) 1 dmg

Subs or Raiders hit the Egyptian Convoy line for 16 damage. This could very well be Italians sneaking by Gibraltar.

his AA2 takes huge hits on my 1st 3 bmrs in london 2 maratime 1 med
the rest of my bmrs hit london with little damage to bmrs
only a few ftrs came up for UK .. no damage to ger ftrs
my units hit london down to a 1 .. took 1 loss to a Pzr .. hes a 10 now
my air did most damage
landed another Pzr and a corp
found a 9 DD with a sub .. he died .. hit by 2 ger BC .. no damage for ger

UK I guess pulled out 2 spain dip chits and bought 2 more USSR chits
so were 5 each in USSR .. ger and italy have 3 more chits in minors
I didnt get a hit on amph tech .. just got my 1st 3 tech hits this turn
all 3 are very helpful .. !!!
was hoping to get london this turn but will have to wait til next turn I guess

How did you land 2 units in Dover, which is not a port last turn?

Or 2 units this turn? There wasn't a transport waiting to offload at Portsmouth, which is under a value of 5 so can't move and offload the same turn.

Do you get a long range Amhib at level 0?
If so that would account for it.

and u can land from lehavre and cherbourg in 1 move also ..
right from france ...
u need ships in the ports and know where the amphib will launch from the port

Allied Turn September 22, 1940

Previous Axis Turn:

A Para moves into the undefended Oxford.

London is pummeled by air, but improved (level 2) AA from the city, the defending Corps and a dedicated AA unit northeast of the city, score hits on a German and Italian Maritime Bomber, and 2 Medium Bombers.
The German Condor actually takes 2 hits from AA fire (1 from AA unit the other from city/Corps). Neither of the Maritime Bomber fly 2nd missions.
English Spitfires fly 2 interceptions, after the AA unit fired twice, and does not fare very well being reduced to half strength while only scoring 1 hit on a Medium Bomber (one that also then took an AA hit).
2 Tactical Bombers also strike London and neither is hurt.

After all that the II Corps in London then fends off a paratrooper and 3 attacks from 2 Panzers (both str 11, the 2nd Panzer landing via Amphib this turn) and manages to ding both of them 1 dmg each.
The Corps is reduced to minimal strength, yet maintains control of London. Multiple Victoria Crosses are awarded, and the unit as a whole is recognized for its valor.

A German sub runs into HMS Bulldog not far from the Scilly islands and they exchange fire (Bulldog 2dmg, sub 1dmg). The sub then radio's Bulldog's position and Gneisenau smashes her with long range fire before Bulldog can escape (str 1).
Unfortunately Bulldog is then found by the damaged Scharnhorst. Unable to escape the Captain orders Bulldog to close range. Scharnhorst is perhaps momentarily taken by surprise and her first couple of volleys miss, but she finds the range and Bulldog is sunk.
Survivors, rescued by the nearby HMS Salmon, claim that one of Bulldog's torpedoes found the mark and hit Scharnhorst (2 dmg).

An Italian Battleship is spotted entering the Atlantic.

London is declared an 'Open City' to spare further damage to civilians and historic landmarks.

In the Atlantic, ORP Blyskawica finds the Italian sub Leonardo Da Vinci on the Iraqi convoy line and forces a dive.
HMCS Saguenay on it's way to help the Polish destroyer encounters U-30 (1 exp), also on the Iraqi convoy, and exchanges 1 damage with the sub.

Raiders hit the Egyptian (10), Canadian (7) and Indian (17) convoy lines for a total of 34 MPP.

* The defending Corps is at single digit morale and readiness, and would only have an entrenchment level of 1 or 2. Even if the Luftwaffe is grounded by weather this unit is not going to hold out against an Army and 2 Panzers with prepared attacks, even at mediocre supply/morale/readiness.
