Problems getting game started

Post by wizzer »

Hi everyone. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a dell Latitude Pentium 4 1.6ghz laptop. My OS is Win2k.

I downloaded the game pacwarv3-2. It wont start. First I get a black screen. Then after hitting escape after several minutes I get a gray screen. Nothing happens after that.

I have used the fixes mentioned by Capt Harlock including the downloads of the autoexec.gam and config.gam files and have followed the instructions. When I click on the pac.exe shortcut I get the same problems as above.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks,
Tom

Maybe you could get it work using DosBox program.

I got it to work using dox box. But it is painstakingly slow. Reinforce hq took 5 minutes. Japanese orders phase took in excess of 15 minutes.

Argh. Anyone else have an idea?

Have you tried boot disk, with files you can get from www.bootdisk.com ?
Solved my Win 98 problems..and there should be something for 2K too.

I downloaded the boot disk from this site for win2k but does not seem to work. It attempts a win 2000 install. What am I missing here?

Thanks again for any help.

It could be also that display driver lacks VESA support or something like that... I'm not Win 2K expert...thus cannot help with that.

But sooner or later something will work :)
