Incidentally, Catesby Ap Jones, the head of the foundry that cast the gun, is better known to fame as the skipper of the CSS Virginia AKA Merrimac on the day she dueled the USS Monitor.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Should add: The above Brooke cannon was aboard the ironclad CSS Jackson that was waiting for it's 4 inch thick iron plating before going into active service. Too bad the Confederates had to burn the Jackson to prevent it from falling into Union hands.

They did a great job restoring the gun and building the carriage. Id love to have seen it actually fire a full powered charge round though.
