Fierce battles to deny access to east prussia! Heavy cost for successfull attacks and very heavy cost for failed attacks!

Turn 194, 1st march 1945

We do our best effort to delay russian advance in the northern part of the front. Almost all reinforcements received were sent here.

IIn Ukraine, russian hordes are at contact with my major line of resistance

Turn 195, 8th march 1945

1945 is really a different year. I thought my line would have held... what a mistake! Fortunatelly, the weather was snow and tank corps didn't have enough MP's t fully exploit the breakthrough

Image

I do my best to restore the line but we pay such a high price for couterattacks!

Image

In the north, the line holds. Both side losses are above 100k men.

A view of the evolution of the OOB

German OOB is looking better than it should. It's due to the significant amount of units received as reinforcement. Without them, it would be 200k men and 2k AFV lower

the way the game is counting AFV changed some patches ago. The number should be divided per 2 or 3.

Pzd supermen? [;)]

note that the losses is recent fights are far higher

Turn 196, 15th march 1945

Heavy fights in Ukraine, we definitively cannot hold the ground, no rest north of Pripyat. No comment about the losses. Most of TOEs are now below 50. I'm short of more than 900k men to fill the OOB.

Pzd are "supermen" but I lost 500 AFV and medium tank TOE is around 50. I get 90 Panther/PzIV per week, it's not enough to equilibrate the losses.

Mud will be more than welcome... and then?

You have done much better than irl. By this date the soviets were getting ready for their assault on Berlin, at the other side of the Oder

Turn 197, 22th march 1945

Always heavy fights north of Pripyat, I can only delay russian advance

Image

In Ukraine, Stelteck moved the bulk of his tank corps north. My lines are badly hurt, hungarian units cannot resist such a treatment. Fortunatly Rendulic and XVIIth corps did the job.

Image

I decide to give some ground and to reinforce this area

Image

The losses, unsustainable...

And the OOB

Still quite a substantial loss. Well that loss ratio is to be expected considering that you are now in 1945. Has mud hit yet?

Turn 199, 5th april 1945

Mud, it's mud [;)]

It's been an active winter season. There no way to stop russian advance. You can only delay it.

Fortunatly I destroyed several tank corps in november and received lots of units in february.

Now it's time to refit before the last summer. It will be a new experience...

PS:I'm still holding Leningrad!

Turn 203, 3rd may 1945

Mud is over. We try to determine the future axes of attacks. Concentration of russian mobile units let me almost no doubt. Main attacks should occur:
- in northern Ukraine
- between Kaunas an Brest Litovsk

Image

I give some ground but don't change my units disposal. With 50 Mps tank corps can cover a wide operational area . 3 Pzk are set on refit to react as soon as main effort ruusian axe is identied.

What turn does the game end? How much longer do you have to hold out?

It's bitter end. It should end turn 225... so we have done 90% of the travel even if I'm currently back to my departure line [:(]
