How best to describe Air Superiority

Post by Fred98 »

The missions available to aircraft are:

Ground interdiction
Naval interdiction
Combat support
Air Superiority

If I set a unit to Air Superiority, does that mean it will attempt to intercept enemy aircraft carrying out ANY of the 4 missions?

Is there a priority? For example will my air unit FIRST, try to intercept enemy aircraft carrying out Air Superiority and if there are none or very few will it SECONDLY try to intercept aircraft carrying out other missions?

Ultimately, where I have Air Superiority, I am trying to put up enough aircraft to maintain air superiority and then use any remaining aircraft to attack enemy ground / naval forces

Or should I think of Air Superiority as "Air interdiction"?

Ground interdiction will try to attack enemy units moving, flow of supply and units before resolution of fights

Naval interdiction will attack naval moves

Combat support will try to help your units in defense

Air superiority will try to counter adversary air units

all of these are for the other turn
