I've been using 5 of the 7 BB's remaining to do bombardment in support of the troops and the two remaining

are part of two separate TF's that escort carriers and I have them parked at Rabaul right now. I'm wondering

if it's safe to sortie forth from there and go sink something. I've been using the 5 bombarding BB's too much here lately

judging from the color of their health dot. They are going to need some time in the yards to refit and renew and I'm

guessing it's going to take about four turns or so for them to be green again, at least.

Here's what's going on in northern China now. I've blown a hole in the ChiCom lines and I'm rolling up their

flanks to see if I can't squash them down into a single hex and then destroy it. They may start pulling back even further

into the heart of Mongolia or somewhere.

I just now captured Ktarkja, the last enemy port on Sumatra, and that completes the capture of all the ports

and airfields and I can put some throw-away unit(s) on the island in some future turn to convert all the enemy hexes.

Right now I need the units on other targets. Like Java.

I'm having a problem keeping the partisans down. The Viet Minh are active and I'm having to round them up and kill them and it's not easy. It's a problem I could do without.

The lack of supply has hampered my advance sufficiently so that Jorge has gotten his Indian divisions across the

river way way too early for me and he's headed south blasting everything Jap in sight. I had committed the reserve

in Northern China and now it's engaged up there and there's no reserve to spend to fix this situation. It's looking

like Jorge is going to invest Bangkok. That will cut the flow of supply to all the Japs in Malaya and I'll

have to evacuate them to save them if that's possible. I seem to have planned this badly. And good moves on the part

of Jorge.

Here's what's going on in northern China with the reserve. They are in the process of wrapping up some remnants and

it's going to be a few turns yet from the looks of it. I'll have to find the reserve people I need elsewhere. Supply is

too sparse up here to do anything quickly.

Here's what's happening on the mainland....Jorge is moving south from Burma into Thailand and it's

looking like he's going to overrun Bangkok. I've shipped in about 3 or 4 inf regiments but two of them need rest

yet. They have come from Manila and were involved in the fighting there and they are fairly worn down a bit. It

seems like maybe the replacements aren't reaching all the way out to the front lines. I'll check the inventory to see what

gives.

Here's some of the inventory such as it is. I'm concentrating on foot soldiers and airplanes and the losses

seem kinda on the low side. The numbers are about to jump due to the pending battles about to take place in the

Bangkok area in the very near future. Jorge's horde is moving south and they are leaping rivers and who

knows what their goal is. Could be Saigon.

I've got an interesting challenge here, and it relates to how TOAW does some things. My Indian divisions are motorised, meaning that I can't attack the Japanese troops in the mountains because apparently my men can't get off their trucks and climb hills! So I am basically stuck fighting on the roads or in the jungle until I can mobilise some foot infantry. The problem is I would never be able to bring them in by ship, there are just too many Japanese aircraft flying sea interdiction in the area, so I will have to bring them by rail and foot, which means he will probably have time to reinforce before I can reach my objective (which shall remain secret) for this division! I am hoping I can surround the units in the mountains and blast them with arty.

The supply situation is good and the troops are ready to fight, if only they knew how to get out of their trucks!

The Chinese troops are useless. They have no proficiency and go into reorganisation practically as soon as they see the enemy! Cannon fodder. I'm hoping to get reinforcements and basically do as the Soviets did, overwhelm with numbers. I'm trying to control the roads, blow bridges and essentially slow his advance, but i'ts not looking good.

The Americans have wormed their way into the Bataan peninsula and now I've got to back them up and kill them. Maybe

I can do an amphibious assault on the cities at the bottom of the peninsula. At any rate the BB's in the harbor

have been an incalculable help in taking down the PI. I'm estimating another 10 turns or so for the clearance of

the entire island.

Here's what's going on in the interior of China. We're still fighting over the railroads. I need it to ship my

units quickly from Singapore to Pieking and vice versa. It's probably going to be needed for the later war

years. I'm trying to deny the Allies all those good bomber bases in China that he needs to bomb my home islands cities.

And with his B-29's they would reach from China.

Here's the area north of Bangkok just now. Jorge stopped short of sacking Bangkok and I'm guessing he didn't

bring enough troops for that. I found some reinforcements mostly from Manila and I'm forming a front line to hold

back the Indians. So this area has been stabilized a little bit.


The north China wrap up is proceeding and those folks need another turn or two to finish and then I can float them

down to Bangkok and get them engaged in the fighting here.

This is just north of Hanoi and you can see that the supply situation is hit and miss and isn't so great at the

fringes. I'm going to need more supply than exists at the fringes to continue the advance northward. Maybe this isn't

such a good idea. Maybe I should be satisfied with ownership of the rails since that's mostly all I need from this area.

New moves from Jorge. Here's what's going on in South China just now. I'm liquidating a pocket of Jap units in

slow motion because of the low supply situation. Once they are gone I'll be able to advance further north to the bridges

over the river and stop them up with a unit or two. Then maybe move west toward India.

Here's what's going on in Malaya and the low supply has sapped the strength of my units in the south and I'm working

on the north end to get rid of several Indian units stopping up the supply flow to my more southern units making the take

down harder than it needs to be. This AO will see some fighting for a long time to come yet.

The Americans have retreated into the Bataan peninsula and the rest of the PI has been cleared and

converted. The ships have been instrumental in helping take down the PI. It couldn't be possible without them. The

aircraft assigned to this project haven't been as helpful as the ships I might add. Maybe I needed to employ a fleet of

aircraft and to have bombarded them each turn.

Have I showed you a view of just north of Bangkok yet? The Indians and British are pushing south and so far

I've been able to hold them back and even get some licks in. There's a low supply stalemate going on as neither side has

much energy. The flow of supply isn't flowing very well into the fringes of the lines. And the units on the north end are

just holding on.

Don't want to get ahead of myself, but this front it about to get very interesting [;)]

Here's the situation in northern Malaya just now. I'm forcing the Allied units off the rails so I can repair them

to get some supply flow happening on the west side of the peninsula and I'm pulling in engineers from northern

China to help staff this effort. The folks trying to defend down in south Malaya are getting killed mostly because

they are out of supply entirely and there's not a whole lot I can do about it right now. Units are starting to spawn in

the home islands as the killed ones are reborn. They are really low on supply and readiness and sometimes they are broken

down into three pieces and have to be put back together. I'm going through a lot of troops in Malaya.


I'm going to attack again west of Manila in the Bataan peninsula to try to force my way further south to corner

the Allied units in the toe and kill them. Then the PI will be cleared officially.
