A lot of CAP was left to hit the first strikes when they came in. I'd been waiting for this for a while. The best part is that the escorts are top of the line P-47s and P38s, and we got a good ratio. Unfortunately none of the usual 2E Ventures or B-25s are there. They've been coming in unescorted and I'd hope to get a look at some.

He sweeps a lot! Continually. There are very few turns without sweeps somewhere.

It's been tough to keep up, but I think I've backed down just enough to keep groups competitive while getting a good ratio and reducing Allied pools considerably. I'm very curious what he has left now.

The Allies DA again at Uruppa and this time the wheels are definitely coming off of the defence. It's been over a month though here, and the Allies have lost a lot working the place over, so I feel okay about letting this one go.

In the air we did pretty well. Ate into the sweeps and got a few bombers in Burma, and hit some 2E going to Uruppa. Just about even in A to A on the day.

How does this large allied army get supplied? It must burn tons of it each turn.

When I press 'R',Ramree Island isn't connected to the network of rails and roads. That leaves Air supplies, which seems hardly likely?

Yeah, it is a very large army there. This is a legacy of the previous players before Canoerebel took over the game. There have been even some very good Aussie and Marine divisions there, although I think the Marines might have pulled out now.

The would usually be supplied through Ramree Island. It may not show as directly connected, but it works. Dump enough there, have a large enough pull from troops in Burma, and it will flow. It might not be consistent though, which could slow down ops occasionally.

Earlier, before I finally pulled out of Prome, this would have been a big problem for the Allies. They still base most bombers in the Arakan or farther back for easier supply drops.

Here it is!! The big one!! (I think).

Massed Allied ships have appeared just off of Hokkaido. There are subs pushing forward near Wakkanai and Bihoro, the DS moving to 3-4 hexes off of Hokkaido, and a lot of other TFs that look like ASW, combat and minesweeping.

The defences on Hokkaido are ready, but who knows how much he'll bring.

Had a bit of a bad day in the air in Burma. The Allies got 3:1 sweeping. It's strange since nothing changed form previous days when we'd ben getting even results. Guess it's just the dice, the weather, the specific order of sweeps arriving, etc.

So, this will be interesting. Is this invasion going to land on Hokkaido? Is it pushing further on?

This turn I won't set any strikes. I'll begin getting planes into position, adding the correct pilots, getting the right escorts to the right bases, and keep CAP strong at necessary airbases. There are a lot of good bases, but I realise I've got my biggest bases along the sea, and that could be a problem. Sapporo is vulnerable, and Kushiro could also be hit. Most strikes will fly from Ominato, Hachinohe or Hakodate, but I'll need close LR CAP.

It is Hokkaido. Not reading CR's AAR, but everything points to that imho. Land based air covering CV task forces is very over rated. A 1000 fighter CAP+ is doable.

This is it! The first time I've ever faced an invasion of the Home Islands. Dan moves fast, and doesn't mess around. Right in.

He most likely had a few looks at the ports of Honshu and knew my reaction would take some time if I were to make one. This is intended, as I don't want to lose 1,000 planes and the remainder of the IJN simply because I don't know what his set up is, where he's going or how to inflict some damage without getting completely minced.

I did put out some MTBs, mines, and midgets. They were all fairly ineffective, but the CD guns did their main job of inflicted disablements and disruption on enemy troop landings. That may buy me some time and I may need every day I can get in the next week or two before a decisive ground attack.

The Allies started with some light mining and then ruined my MTBs in one shot, with the AGC TF no less. Would have been sweet to hit that, but no go, alas.

Having the LBA close is a big advantage nonetheless. There are many ways he can choose to use it. I'm hoping to mix it up enough it'll be hard for him to get a handle on what to cover and what to sweep. There is one thing that surprised me and made me feel very dumb (a great play on Dan's part), but I think in the air war I can use it to my advantage.

Th Allies landed one hex outside Wakkanai with a small force, showing four units, but blocking the rail. I had three reserve divisions ready to rail in to whatever the invasion site would be. I tested a sweep against Toyohara and the Ki-83 did pretty well, getting about 2:1. I'll take that. The base lists 200+ fighters but I'm sure that will go up soon.

It looks like tanks were unloaded across the non-base coastline, and lots disabled. I hope so anyway.

The bombardment shows the Allies landing five divisions, including one Marine ID and one Aussie ID. A good number of tanks, and I'm sure more arty and other stuff will follow. Dan likes to keep the invasions going daily to inflict the self-harming euro bombardment.

Troops are in movement, and the strat ready IDs will get to Asahikawa and being walking up. I've got about 300AV of tanks that can move quickly there too, and bringing some base forces with CD guns along. Hopefully I'll have time to open the door.

Uruppa falls decisively today.

Yes. Probably DDs and guarding both the approach and the path for landings along the coast. In the next turn I'll post I managed to thwart the first attempt on this side!
