Probably not enough to save the base...flying in troops, and perhaps some troops will come ashore by sea, but doesn't look good.

Although damage is light, disruption must be high among the ABDA attacking forces...

Cam Ranh Bay holds for now with forts intact.

Japan simply doens't have any troop strength...plus almost no anti tank ability.

One day of Army air transport brings in a variety of heavy equipment. Unfortunately, Japan stands no chance as there are now close to 100 ABDA units in this area.

Hectic few days irl, back to the game:

Saigon holds, but hasn't been tested yet. 600+ ABDA AV there versus 200 for Japan.

Cam Ranh Bay beat back the first assault easily, thanks to heavy bombardment from Yamoto and other battleships. The Yamoto is headed back to Hong Kong to rearm, and I think 20 Allied subs, including Russians are concentrated to catch her half way between Hong Kong and Samah. The other BB are reloaded and IJN is somewhat concentrated at Samah.

Managed to fly in 60 AV of troops from the Imperial Guards to Cam Ranh Bay, and landed a half strength regiment. Need artillery big time...and tanks.

Finished turn, and awaiting my next one...

ABDA kitchen sink moves east...I use a a lone ship at dock in Brunei to pull some aerial attacks. Oscar Ic are super dated, but by using only one ship, I hoped to not pull a strong strike.

The Nicks do really well, only a Chutai, and the Oscars manage to trade. The AKE is not hit.

I am looking to sting this force with a very heavily escorted Betty strike from the size 8 runways I own on Luzon should they head that way....The KB and Yamoto are north, north east of Luzon, spotted.

The flight controllers on the Carriers will assign the numbers of escorts and strike planes that they deem sufficient to destroy the target. However, if only one strike is flown, then they can really boost the number of escorts while the number of strike planes doesn't really change.

So, a better tactic here to attrit the fighters would be to have target ships at all available ports...this would cause some escort dispersion, and even cause some flights to go in without escorts.

However,I was worried somewhat about bombardments or possible amphibious landings, and chose only to trap Brunei.

Deathstar now shows 126 fighters, and 76 bombers.

I move fighters out of Rangoon & Magwe, leave my ships disbanded in port, and well, the Allies put a big aerial offensive in Burma.

Two CLs bombard Rangoon, followed by a tank invasion of Pegu.

Air losses.

I should have pulled the Oscars all the way from Magwe instead of leaving 1 Sentai there. 1 Sentai simply cannot defend against sweeps by Lightnings.

I am a week behind you and I am the Japanese as well. Interesting how your game is playing out in Burma compared to mine. I might learn a few tricks as I follow your AAR, I just hope I don't end up ahead of your in game time.

All you are going to get from this AAR is how not to play Japan.[:D]

Don't throw supply crates over board of your ship when there is a danger of them floating to the Russian shore? That's a good lesson to learn.
