Editor - how far can we go?

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

Editor - how far can we go?

Post by Wilhammer »

Is it possible, using the editor, to create an entire new battle?

Say I wanted to do France 1940, can I create French Units?

Or, is the editor restricted to Soviet/American/German Units?

If so, can I create entirely new units in those Armies to say build the Battle for Stalingrad or Heurtgen Forest?

Hi Wilhammer - I have just finished speaking to Roger Keating from SSG about this.

As I understand it... you can create new battles with the editor. I am unsure if you can create a new OOB including the French though.. I will check on this for you.

But I know you can create a new battle with the existing forces, so yes you definately can create Starlingrad (I would wait for the official release though - heck there is a scoop!) and Heurtgen Forest.

No one is going to kid you, the editor can be a bit tricky to use and there currently is no documentation for it (although that will be addressed soon one way or another), but after you have played around in it and have got the hang of it.. its fine.
Isn't that bizarre?

Thanks for the response.

The editor could very well be the jewel in this product.

No doubt TOAW gained its long legs from its editor, in combination with a very good boardgame like system.

So far, I am enjoying KP. Just finished the tutorials last night.

The game doesnt model real equipment does it?

So I wouldnt think a new OOB would be too difficult

I have posted an article in this thread.

It will show you how to get a new scenario started.

I will add to it as time permits.
