System Requirements?

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

System Requirements?

Post by MarkFroio »

The stated system requirements for KP are:

Win 98, Win ME, Win 2000, Win XP
PII 450 Mhz CPU
128 Mb RAM
DX 8.1 or later
8Mb Video RAM/ 16 bit color
DX 8.0 compatible sound card
8 x CD-ROM
400 Mb Free Hard Drive Space

My question is, is this the mininum or recommended system requirements? I have a P II 450 with 256 mb ram. Will it run slowly on this or at speed that allows me to enjoy this game?

Thanks.

Generally speaking about games, the system requirements are for minimum performance. It's what you need to get the game running in a playable condition at all.

Then again, from the screenshots I can't see anything that your system can't handle....I guess PV has more info on in-game animations, movies and stuff that may take more brawn... ? :)

Going on another thread here it looks like DX9a comes with KP. If this is correct, is this version of DX recommended to load?

can't comment directly on the CPU issue as I am running an amd xp 1700 - I would *expect* KP to run fine on lower end systems but I suspect the ability to run other applications concurrently would be greatly reduced or at least, impinge on game performance.

As for Direct X, I had the game running in Dx8, Dx9 and now Dx9x (or whatever flavour of Dx9 is currently available from MS).

The only ever issue I had was when i was using an old nvidia reference driver - I upgraded to the latest driver and no further issues.

System Specs

Post by Matthew Urch »

I ran KP on a number of PCs that came through my office whilst beta testing to see how it worked on various OSs and hardware specs. The lowest spec machine I used was a celeron 400 with 128 mb and KP worked fine.

Yeah - i did wipe the machines once i'd finished testing so there aren't lots of PCs with KP betas at my office!

Thanks guys. I thought it would run okay on my machine, but I just wanted to double check. I've got no problem turning off the background applications to play a game. Looks like I'll be ordering it today.
