Moving shipyard ship thingy possible ?

Was wondering if it was possible to create a ship which can act as a trading hub, build ships, warp to different planets, mine from planets etc.. SHould be technically possible, but I have never done it.

Design a ship like that and let us know. It sounds plausible, just no one thought of it to date.

I designed a resupply ship like that once. It could repair ship: I don’t remember if it could build new ones. It is possible, but it requires a lot of micromanagment. In the end, it’s not a strategy I use often because I focus on repair bots and on building small spaceport over most colonies.

Hello! I already tried it and I must say that it isn't possible. Like ArchMike said, it can repair stuff, it can mine gas, resources and luxuries. It can let other ships refuel... But it could not build other ships. I don't remember any transports to come to it, but than again, my attention was not focussed on it for whole time - so it might be just that I didn't saw them.

So, it is basically acting like a regular construction ship, with the ability to mine gas or resources.
