Supply

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

Supply

Post by Black Cat »

Have the Game, read the PDF Manual, and playing the Campaign Game as the Russians and a few questions on Supply.

1: At turn 28 and I am effectively out of Supply, several Supply trucks, especially on the Eastern Flank, will not move or move 1 hex only. This has been going on for 7 turns now. I think my War is over with 14 turns to go since most units will not Attack.

In the manual it talks about " Supply Truck Resistance" which are several varabiles, weather, enemy ZOC`s , etc.

Having read this I don`t understand what causes the " Resistance" to occur ?

Is this hard coded into the game to occur , or do the varabiles change with die rolls each turn ?

2: What is used to determine the sides " Supply Efficiency" per page 35 of the manual ? Does this change with each turn, or is this hard coded ?

3: It seems Suppy Trucks will not move into certain terrain, is this correct ?

I guess I`m asking if I`m having a string of bad luck, not playing correctly, or is the Game designed to reduce Russian supply as it progresses ?

Thanks

Apart from enemy interdiction, ZOC's etc (which are effectively a variable condition), supply efficiency also affects resistance - 100% adds nothing, 75% adds 1, 50% adds 3, 25% adds 5 and 0% adds 7 OP's to the maximum of 25 (which at that point means the poor old supply truck can't broadcast any supply at all..)

Supply efficiency can be noted in the top right hand corner of the screen. At that point in the campaign you are on about 75% efficiency, so it is only adding a small amount of resistance to your supply source.

Hard coded by the scenario designer. You can get an indication of what the supply efficiency for next few turns will be by right-clicking on the scenario name in the top right hand corner and viewing the resulting display.

Generally, they are wheeled vehicles and are not overly keen on going into heavy forest etc in a hurry.

As a rule, always keep them on a road unless you are desparate. Use the Supply Gradient button (G hotkey) to show you the best hexes to place your trucks in for the least resistance - green is best, red is bad!

hope this helps

Actually Chris - Green is best (being a road), downgrading through light blue to red.
