Map Editor - Road Drawing Frustration

Post by Mr Klotzen N Kleckern »

I've attempted to use the map editor for years but give up in frustration very soon after starting: When I try to draw roads, the editor almost always creates an enormous multi-hex road network in every direction, and I cannot seem to be able to control the way it draws roads. I've tried different settings (line, blob, etc) but this is not much help. Sometimes it creates a satisfactory road, but usually not. It automatically wants to link a group of hexes. It doesn't let me create a sharp bend in the road either, instead it creates an unwanted shortcut.
What am I doing wrong here?

In the menu bar at the top in the Edit drop down turn Auto Contour on. Then click on the edge of the hex you want the road/river or whatever. The edge of the hex, not the middle. If it wants to go to a hex side you don't want it then simply click that hex side again and the road that goes to that hex side will vanish. Making a map can be tedious work for certain.

If duct tape doesn't fix it then you are not using enough duct tape.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity and I’m not sure about the universe-Einstein.
