Using Lua to Expand Patrol area upon new contact

Post by 1nutworld »

Hi guys

I'm getting back into this sim, after about a years absence. I've downloaded all the updates, etc.

I am trying to create a scenario where a Surface Action group is going to a patrol area, while the OpFor has AEW and Elint aircraft up searching for them. The SAG is operating under strict emission conditions. Meanwhile the OpFor knows there is a SAG out there and they are trying to locate it.

What I would like to have happen is that my AEW/Elint AC expand the search box(s) "x" nm out once they get a contact, so that maybe they can get a better idea of the identity of the members of the SAG.

Thanks for your help.

Do you mean expanding the area of the patrol mission? Or creating a new patrol mission around the area of the contact?

Expanding the patrol mission outwards to increase the likelihood of something other than elint/sigint sensors to help determine what is out there, without doing a blind recon run over the contact

You can change the position of the RPs defining the mission area thru Lua if that is what you mean, but it will stay that way for the rest of the game or you change them again.
In some scenarios I have played, I usually created a new patrol area defined on the probable location of the contact, and assigned assets to it until something was found and then re-assigned them back to the normal mission and deactivated the old one until it was needed again.
