I have decided to make a stand in Burma. I believe that Wolf is at least a few weeks from taking Singapore. So he won't be able to do any amphib landing along the Burmese or Indian coast for just shy of a month if not more. I am sending 2 small armor units with the 7th Armored BDE to follow up when it arrives at Calcutta. My hope is to trash 2 of the ID's moving around Pegu. I am looking at pulling an Indian BDE or two from Ceylon or India to reinforce the area. Sadly I only have 48 PP's left. My wife and children got ahold of the credit card. I now have 2 divisons of purses and a BDE of sparkly lol dolls. [:D]
China is bombed and units are moving around. I expect some ground combat in a few days. I have spotted an LCU moving around south China, I will be doing a recon bombing tomorrow.
Some good news. CL Phoenix is 9 hex's north of Wake and still floating. She can only make 3 hexs in a day, so three days to Wake and a little while there to fix some damange. Phoenix 28 sys/ 64 flt (46 major)/19 eng (8 major)
Northern Borneo is a bust. The 2 old CLs run into the Takao. She is reported have fires and smoke before the CLs engage it. The CLs land 2 hits on the CA and one on a DD. They leave her with Heavy fire/damage. 95 troops are killed in this engagement. The ship is still not listed on the sunk list. Resilient little ship. My NavSearch didn't see it today. I am sending the old CLs towards Miri along with another SAG that was nearby. I am expecting this ship to head towards Miri its the closet friendly base. I wan this ship!!
Java has 1 French BDE, 2 US army rgt (moving from Hawaii and US West Coast),and 2 Indian BDE's. 2 US Arty units moving from Pago Pago and 2 US AA moving from the West Coast.
Guam bombed. I have started to disband/withdraw air units.
Everything else is quiet.
Ocean Island is invaded and taken. So a little bit more action in SoPac

Northern Borneo: Our Old CLs run into a CL and 2 DD TF. CL Dragon is sunk. We do land a few shell hits, but nothing major. CB Impeirus eats a TT from some Kates. It has moderate damage, but will run for Singapore since Japanese carriers are nearby. None of my ships catch the wounded CA. I do see 2 Petes as ground loss this turn. No points added, but that could come later. I am hoping. Beaufort is taken.
AF and Port bombings on Guam. For some reason SS Tarpon was in port and took a bomb. I am going to try and send it to Australia for repairs. I don't think it will make it. CL Phoenix is heading to Wake. I think it will make it. We lose 3 planes on the ground. I am withdrawing a few units at a time. AAA is also starting to damage and shoot down some bombers here.
I set up 2 CAP traps on in China. One is east of Nanning and the other is near Pakhoi. Results are positive. 25 Sally's, 2 Sonia's, 2 Lilly's, for 5 H81's. P39's sweep a hex to the west of Pegu and takes down a 2 Zero's, Hawk II, and a RO 57.
Sub attacks and ASW attacks. Wolf lands a few hits and we land a few.

RO 63 patrolling off of Tarakin eats 2 DCs from American DDs. An I boat takes a penetrating DC from a Dutch PF near Palembang. Another Jap sub sinks and xAKL in the Makassar Strait.
Guam is bombed again. It has 97 AF, 100 Service, and 27 port damage. 4 forts and 55% to 5, 431 AV and 54K of supply. I went ahead and disbanded all the but 3 groups on the island. Now I'm waiting for the invasion. Not much that I can do now.
I have signet of an assault division prepping for Wake Island. This is the unit that was suppose to invade Wake from the beginning. Wake has 3 forts 63% to 4 and 126 AV 5,100 towards the stacking limits with 9K supplies. I have subs patrolling around and some fighters and bombers around. Mines will be dropped off when I think the invasion is inbound.
P39s and Whirlwinds sweep the hex to the east of Pegu. We destroy 10 Zeros, 8 Hawk II, 4 RO 57's for no loss. These planes have been on LRCAP for days now. They have to be tired. My pilots have high morale and low fatigue. I have some light armor units on ships moving to Rangoon. I am hoping this will help me out here. If he attacks now, I might not be able to hold him back.
Miri's oil fields will be bombed tomorrow, along with Boela's oil fields.
SoPac quiet and waiting. Will the war come south is on everyones minds.
NoPac building and waiting. All Eyes are looking to the east.

I don't know what he is doing here. I suspect he is going to put enough troops to hold me down and burn out my supply. There has been no bombings of anything in the PI for almost a week now.

RE: BREAKING NEW!!!!! Japs troop on US Soil

British sub Trident makes a run into Bangkok harbor and sweeps 3 mines the hard way. Its possible that it will make it back to Singapore. Japanese troops are now 3 hexs north of Singapore heading south. We are as ready as we will ever be. Actually I have pulled out a few units. I have a few more that I will try and pull out by air when the time is right. I figure I will have just under 1100 AV and hopefully 4 forts with 65k supply, when the battle starts. I have started to evacuated all none essential ships from the harbor. Air attacks will have to start soon, I would think.
Speaking of air attacks. Guam gets it's daily bombings. For some reason another sub disbands into the port and takes 3 bombs. I don't think this sub will make it home.
China is bombed. I am resting the 2 AVG squadrons. I plan on flying one out and replacing the planes. No ground attacks yet, another day or two I will have one of my blocking hex's reinforced. Hopefully enough to stall the impending attack. Burma is waiting for the 2 divisions to cross the river and attack. I am hoping I can get some reinforcements there before they cross.
Men, material, and supplies are you heading towards Java. I am hoping for about a month before the real fight here begins.
SoPac and NoPac are quiet.

RE: BREAKING NEW!!!!! Japs troop on US Soil
Many of the US sub captains at game start have dismal stats. The sub that disbanded at Wake may have had a skipper with low aggression. Or maybe he had a drinking problem and wanted to park the sub so he could go find some beer/home brewed hooch! [:'(]

RE: BREAKING NEW!!!!! Japs troop on US Soil
Your probably right BBfanboy. Hooch will be running out soon. lol
15th, Jan 42
Speaking of Hooch. Perch (the sub hit on the last turn) sinks during the night. Guam is bombed again. I disbanded the last 2 B17 squadrons. Plenty of supply left.
North Borneo is active still. Some how I forgot to mention the oil fields attack yesterday. We do decently well with the oil hits in two days. Both days we run into a few Nates. Neither side loses any planes. NavSearch spots a TF at Miri, it mentions a CA. I have moved in some DBs and 2 more fighter squadrons. Both are P40Es one will sweep and one will escort the bombers. I have a Dutch sub moving into the hex also.
Chinese units are bombed. Chinese units are leaving Liuchow to attack the mixed BDE to the east. I want to clear the road to Nanning.
Oscars and BF 109s sweep Clark Field, then the bombers come in and hit the AF. They damage some Stearman recon plans. Is there and attack coming here?

Combat in China
lets try this again
16-17th, Jan 42
Guam is bombed. AAA guns are now starting to damage more IJ AC. Eng's have fixed some of the runway, I don't expect it to last very long. Japanese Air ASW is improving in this area. I have yet another sub damaged by it. SS Perch sinks just outside of Guams harbor.
Miri's oil has been bombed for several days now. Recon shows 98 operational oil wells. I will try to get that lower. SigNet says that an eng unit was headed to Miri. on the 17th NavSearch finds a TF at Miri. Bombers set out to attack this TF. DBs get 3 hits on one AK destroying a few vehicles. The 18th p40s sweep and find some Zero's, from CVL's hanging around. DBs go after a BB SAG on the North West side of Borneo. My escorted bombers take it on the chin with the escorting fighters. BB Karishma is hit with two 1000lb bombs. Dutch sub that was sent into investigate Miri's harbor is sunk after 3 attempts to attack a TF. I have lost 2 subs and 3 more damaged. Another sub is damaged off of FIC. A Dutch O class lays some mines in Miri's harbor. No hits yet. At the end of the day on the 18th, we 8 Blenheim, 6 DBs, and 7 P40E's. We shoot down 15 Zero's during the day. 2 CVLs from Singapore have launched and is expected to be 6 hex's away from Miri on the morning of the 19th, to launch a strike at Miri or what ever TF is near by. Subs are also moving into intercept different TFs in the area.
Johor Bharu is attacked by Sallys on the 17th and the fighters slaughter them. 10 of them are shot down. Imperial Guards division is reported to be moving south towards Singapore. I have had a lot of intel of LCUs being dropped off at Singora. I suspect that these units will head towards Singapore. I have intel of LCU's landing at Bangkok. I expect them to head towards Burma. Aromor units are being dropped off at Rangoon.
China is now the hot spot. I set up a CAP trap and catch 15 Sally's shooting them down. Japanese troops attack in 4 different areas of China. My speed bump outside of Nanning is attacked and destroyed. My forces should attack the mixed inf BDE west of Nanning tomorrow. An Italian tank BN attacks a Chinese corps at Kanshein. I lose some troops but keep the base. I am moving the Corp out of the base. The major attacks happen at Tasiaotso and the hex north of it. between the two battles Jappanese lose 6300 troops, 42 destroyed inf and 420 disabled. Japanese had 6 inf divisions with supporting units. we loose 1600 troops 23 destroyed inf, and 166 disabled. Not a bad day today.

We get 5 near misses on a sub outside of Singapore. During the day we launch a few strikes at the TF at Miri and one south bound from FIC. We hit one AK with 3 1k pounders and an xAK with a TT. I believe that the AK sunk. I lose a few planes to the strike on the south bound TF. I'm not for sure where this TF is heading. I bet now it will move back towards FIC. I am not exactly for sure where the Jap CVLs are. So I am pulling my CVLs back closer to Singapore but just far enough out to strike an invasion force.
I have another enemy TF at Ternate. It isn't heading to Ternate. Kinda looks like its heading to Kendri. I have 2 USN CVs in place. A Brit CV is inbound to link up with the USN CVs. I am getting a lot of heavy chatter from Babeldaob. Carriers with an invasion force?
Bombing all around China. Oscars sweep a friendly base and hit fighters on patrol. I lose about 5 planes to none. The good news is that I have cleared the road to Nanning. The mixed BDE was mauled by my forces. The bad news is that 4 tank rgts has entered the hex above Tasiaotso. My force won't be able to withstand an attack by them. Tasiaotso is in good shape.
Else where I believe is quiet.

Ground Hog Day.
Nothing really happened. I am trying to study my opponent. I think he is very cautious. Not a bad thing, I usually try to be that way. Since he is being that way, I will try and be a little more aggressive. I have no idea where any of the main Jap carriers are. I know I am going to run head long into them sooner or later.
What I am thinking Is that I might buy out some big units that don't leave at some point in the game and send them to Java. IE a USA Inf Division, maybe the 8th Australian Divison. I have all its components out of Singapore. So why am I thinking this. He has not push the ground attack game very much. He has the troops, exp, numbers, and what not to win. But he isn't going in for the attack. Its more than half way through Jan and Wolf still hasn't taken Singers, Clark, or Manila.
What are you all thinking?

I send French Hawk and British Whirlwind fighters to sweep Kluong. The Hawks who had good pilots got crushed, but the Whirlwinds help even out the fight some. At the end of the day I lose 12 Hawks and 2 Whirlwinds (Ops) to 9 Oscars, 3 Tojos, and 2 Zeros. I see two LCUs at Kluong with 7 more moving to Kluong. Nothing looks to be moving to Johore Bharu. JB is forts 2 at 93%. I will stop at 3. It has an AV of 203 all of it weak Malaysian inf squads. So it probably won't hold up to a major attack. Singapore has forts at 3 and 53% with an AV of 1074 and increasing.
Now sweeps in Burma/Thailand goes better for the Allies. P39s and Whirlwinds sweep Chiang Mai and find Ro 57bis, and Nates. Japanese loses are 14 57's and 10 Nates for no loses of our own. I sent bombers to bomb/recon one of the hex's to the east of Pegu. I have found the 33 and 55th divisions. To the south of this hex is another 2 units. I know one of them is a division. He has more than enough troops to defeat me. If he combined them into one stack he could take Pegu. Thus cutting off the Burma road. Everyday he waits in a gift for China
China bombings as usual. Wolf is now bombing bases and units on the front lines. German Condor bombers try and bomb Sian. The old Russian biplanes shoot down 3 of them. Japs perform 2 bombardment attacks on Tasiaotso base and the hex to the north. I am trying to rush more troops to the hex to the north of Tasiaotso. Its proably a lost cause, there are 4 tank rgts and 2 IDs, one of the IDs took a beating in the first attack. I am still chaseing the cav BDE up north. I have spotted another Jap unit following my Chinese units.
NoPac, SoPac, and Java are all quiet and building up defenses.

I sent a fast SAG made up of French ships up to Medan to do a raid. Their pray escapes but we do some damage to 2 different subs. Japs take 2 more bases on the Malaysian peninsula, one of those bases was occupied by a cut off eng unit. It fought the good fight until the end.
Burma is still Burma right now. I am going to bomb and bombard Moulmein tomorrow. Status quo is still good in my book.
I did not see this coming in China. First the part I did see coming. Italian troops capture Kuantang. No biggie it was a forward base. Now the [X(][X(]moment. Japanese troop attack the hex north of Tasiaotso. Drum roll please.

P-39s sweep around Moulmein, they take out 8 Nates, 5 BF 109's, and one Ro 57, for the loss of none. This leads me to my problem, I think I over did it on the P39's. I am discussing them with Wolf right now. I have lowered the stats of them in the updadted mod. I guess this is why you test out mods. I lose 5 Hudsons near Moulmein. Still no movement from the Japanese to cross the river. I am moving some more units into Rangoon.
More bombardments in Tasiatso. Bombing of the troops here and elsewhere in China. I set up a CAP trap and take down 4 Liz, 19 Ida's, 8 Sonia, 5 Lily, 1 Sonia for no loses. The 1st Cav BDE is trapped but doesn't know it yet. My bombers are slowly chewing up this unit. I expect this unit to fall fast.
Malaysa is about to get hot. Recon has spotted 15 units heading towards Johore Bahru.
Everything else is quiet.
What are my plans? I am beefing up Java. I will delay at Singapore. I am looking at taking some offensive actions in several months once I get the points and prep on certain units.

Japanese troops march up to the fortifications of Johore Bahru. The brave Malaysian troops are overwhelmed after the first battle. A few units retreat back into Singapore, they only have a handful of men left. Most of these units will be whipped out in the first battle of Singapore. I sent a TF of CLs and DDs to bombard the Japanese forces at Johore Bahru, it worked. I will send it in again tonight with a few more ships added to it. the bombardment caused 175 casualties with 7 disabled combat squads. In the actual attack we lost just under 5,000 troops to 580. The Japanese suffered 45 combat squads disabled. My rough count has the Jap forces at around 2250 combat squads and 220 AFV's. So that's 55 down another 2200 to go. No air attacks over Singers yet. I am going to bomb the AF and troop tomorrow. Singapore has 3 forts with 67% to 4. AV is at 1100, with plenty of supply and decent morale. More Japanese units are spotted heading south.
China is bombed, we do catch a few Vals. Tomorrow we have a CAP trap set up. Bombardments at Tasiaotso again.
Everywhere else is quiet.

RE: Combat in China
Lets try a different format. Tell me if you like it or don't.

LGen Fu of the 7th Group army located at Tsiaotso watches over the battle field as the Japanese forces attack his base. The Chinese forces stand tall againist the superior Japanese forces, forts are reduced to 2, but engs have started to rebuild them. The 5th Corp is all but whipped out, LGen Fu has ordered them back to Sian to rebuild and requested the 9th Corp to replace it. The 9th Corp won't reach the base for sometime since they are about 104 NMiles away. Chinese ground units north of Tsiatso hunker down in their foxholes through yet another bombardment attack. Fu keeps asking for fighter support to help stop the daily bombings. Two fighter squadrons of the 11th Pursuit Group, and one Squadron of the 4th PG, rise up to meet several Japanese raids. With only a handful of fighters (19 total only a few meet the bombers) with well over 40 bombers attacking in different waves. The fighters put up a stiff defense and shoot down 2 Lily's, 2 Sonia's, and 1 Sally.
Kwangchowan is taken today, the small French Bn put up a stout fight againist a larger Japanese force. They fought to the last man. "Viva La France" was the last thing Japanese soldiers heard from the last bunker manned by a French NCO.
LGen Mcleod the commander of all Burma forces welcomed the 2nd Royal tank, and the 7th Hussars tank units to Rangoon. These forces are believed to help even out the Japanese and Allied forces in the area around Pegu. Mcleod is also happy to see fighter Squadrons NO 17 and 258 land at Rangoons AF. 32 Hurri IIa's will help protect the area. NO 84 bomber squadron flew in with the fighters. Air recon shows that Bangkok has 181 bombers stationed there along with 24 ships in the harbor. Cpt Haughton is ordered to take his CLs and bombard Moulmein. With the arrival of the new troops, morale of the local units have risen to a new level.
LGen Percival orders Cpt Bufton to take his cruiser TF and bombard Johor Bahru. Before they could commence their attack, they are attacked my 31 Lily's. This nuisance attack does not bother the TF as they continue on and hit the AF and troops at Johore Bahru. The runway is lightly damanged and 178 troops are killed. Fighters sweep the skys over JB and find no Japanese fighters. Medium bombers attack the troops, no casualties are reported. Heavy bombers attack the AF causing minor damage. Recon shows the airfield has a damage of 31. Percival fearing a heavy Japanese response has stood down the bomber, in hopes that Cpt Bufton and his ships can add more damage to the AF tonight during their bombardment mission.
During the night ACEH CB bombards Padang, this is the first time this ship has been seen. It causes some casualties. Cpt Peirse's SAG has been ordered south to look for this ship and engage it. Peirse and his ships have been North of Sabang watching for this ship to make a sortie into the IO. The crews of the SAG are excited at a change to engage this lone ship. Fear is high about air attack, but this is their first chance of the war to get this ship. Another unit as joined the ACEH armored unit at Padang. US medium bombers attack these units with no joy, they do encounter a flight of Oscars. Lt Anemaet's CW 21 Demon's do an excellent job of protecting the bombers. Anemaet shows his airmen that they can stand up to the Japanese and claims his 3 victory of the war. One Oscar was the only plane lost over Padang.
3 Japanese BC's attack Hollandia, causing little damage.
Supreme Gen D. MacArthur sits in his PI HQ and watches as Bettys bomb Clark AF. Intel has Jap units sitting isolating the PI military to Clark, Manila and bases south of them.
Gen Wainright the CO of American forces at Guam send out the daily report to Pearl Harbor. Japanese medium bombers attack the AF again today. Supplies are 49k and slowly dropping. He askes when reinforcements will arrive. Gen Short responds that plans are being made.
Multiple Allied ASW this turn. LCDR Reid of the AM Wollongon attacks I 8 for 5th time near Sydney. Three French KV's are called in to help the Wollongon hunt for I-8. I-169 attacks DD Greymouth near Brisbane, the sub gets off a message mentioning a cruiser and 6 DDs spotted. All TTs miss the Greymouth and the sub suffers one hit from the attack. I-6 attacks PC Bonhon near Annette Island while she was escorting some transports. Bonhon lands 4 light hits on the submarine. Air ASW assets have been requested to patrol the waters near Prince Rupart. I-170 attack Lt Holtzman's 2 ship ASW TF. No hits by either side.

RE: Combat in China
31st, Jan42
Just before midnight CPT Bufton's cruisers start to bombard Johore Bahru, spies report that 158 men where killed along with light to moderate damage to the runway. Recon show AF is 50% damaged. Percival is pleased with the runway damage and orders Bufton to continue bombarding. Recon also shows no movement towards Singapore from any Japanese troops. ABDA air commanders have decided to keep around 100 fighters around Java, to rotate fighter groups into and out of Singapore, when the air war starts. 2 P-39 squadrons are inbound on ships. They are expected to arrive in port in 3-4 days. Heavy bomber squadrons are taking replacement planes and pilots.
CPT Haugton's cruiser force bombards Moulmein doing light damage. Recon here still shows the Japanese forces sitting on the other side of the river. Allied troops are digging in awaiting for them.
CPT Peirses SAG is 100NM west of Sabang. He has radioed in no sight of the ACEH CB, but the good new is he hasn't been sighted by enemy air units either. He will continue south looking for his prey.
Gen MacArthur receives reports that Clark has been swepted by Oscars and bombed by medium bombers. He is hesitant to bring up his fighter due to the Oscars. He decides to hold the fighters back for another day.
Gen Wainright sends a coded message back to CentPac. Stating more bombings by medium bombers, mentioning the runway and aircraft facilities are completely wrecked. The good news is AA is starting to damage more Japanese bombers. Subs are reporting that a lone Jap DD is performing ASW patrol at night off the coast of Guam. Only air assets at Guam is 5 Seagulls. They get the orders to fly attack missions at night
CPT Klaasen is nursing his damaged xAK back to port after taking a TT from I-16 off of the west coast of USA. It looks like he will make it to LA.
LGen Fu reports few Japanese bombers today, he still requests fighter support. Three Chinese Corps does a bombardment mission against a Jap unit blocking the road to Chengchow. Locals fleeing the area say that the Division is moving away from Chinese troops. Peasants around Yenan report a Japanese unit is moving on the city from the east. Almost all Chinese units have withdrawn from this base, the last one will start to bug out today.
Gen Ter Poorten has ordered all troops evacuated from Hollandia. Air transports has already begun to fly out the two units. The eng unit will fly to Merauke, to help build up this base. The inf unit will be transported to Ambon to bolster up the defenses. MGen IIgen was happy to hear the news of more ground troops being sent to Ambon. With these new troops AV will be over 200. Bombers flying out of Ambon attacking the Nav Guard unit at Boela reported several direct hits on Japanese positions causing over 30 causalities.
For those of you that read my AAR. What are your thoughts on the format change. Yay or Nay.
