Windows Recovery Not Restoring CMANO Directory

Post by smbrannan »

I recently uninstalled CMANO, on accident as it were, there were two entries and I thought I would only remove one of them.

I realized that when the game uninstalled, it also removed the Import/Export folder, where I saved a number of custom files I created and I am trying to get those back. Apparently the solution to an uninstall like this is to use Window's Recovery feature, but despite doing this about ten times to multiple different Recovery save points, it seems to restore everything BUT CMANO.

Is there a trick to getting this folder back? Has anyone else run in to this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, as a suggestion to developers, you might consider leaving the Import/Export folder after uninstalling the program if anyone is saving anything in there like I did.

Thank you, -Shane

Shane,

Here is an explanation of what the Windows recovery point/restore does:

https://www.pcworld.com/article/160858/ ... ained.html

The quick, simple explanation is that System Restore backs up and restores the Registry, important Windows files, and the programs you've installed into Windows. It has no effect whatsoever on documents, photos, and so forth.

It is used to save/restore "system" files" and can be helpful in fixing your system if of these files becomes infected or corrupted.

Unfortunately it does not save any user files. Windows does have a file backup feature and there are many third party system backups but unless you made copies of the files that are gone the system save/restore feature cannot help you.

Well, dang.

Thank you for the explanation Wayne. Recovery seemed to be the internet's answer to 'what do I do when I accidentally uninstalled a program?' and it restored other programs I removed, but apparently, it can't fix this issue.

Let this be a warning to everyone else though, make a back up of any custom files you make.
