zero to zero result in combat report

Post by MrBlizzard »

Hi, playing torch to Tunisia last beta
In last turn I found this odd result, it happened 3 times, I report one of them:
A FF battalion launched an assault against italian troops
It seems that combat should have ended as 8:0 but is shown 0:0.0
is it a bug ?
Thanks

That is odd. Do you have a save game where you can try to repeat the bug. For some reason, the attackers choose to halt at 1500 yards, so only artillery fire took place. Usually this happens due to the attacker odds being low and the leader deciding to break off the attack. This doesn't appear to be the case here, and it could be a case of a divide by zero causing the odds to return 0 to 1 instead of 1000 to 1 (due to artillery fire disrupting all the defending elements - can you look at the detailed combat report to see if that's the case). I'll bug it so the programmers can make sure they are dealing with a defending force value of 0, but having a save would be useful. Thanks for the report.

The unit defending was heavily bombed by the air before the ground attack.
It lost many elements and many others were damaged or disrupted
Now it's in unready state.
If you need I can send you a save at the end of my previous turn (before, all enemy move, air bombing phase included)

This was the last of 4 attacks (3 of them ended in 0:0.0, the third ended 1:1.3) with detail

Please send all the saves you've got. Ideally as close before the attack as possible (i.e. after air phase but before you launch the ground attack), and then as soon after the attacks as possible so I can view the battle reports in detail. Thanks. You can attach to the post as a zip file, or email to 2by3@2by3games.com. Thanks.

Sorry, I misread your first post. The Allied unit attacked and was halted by artillery fire at long range. The 0 to 0 is just a display oddity given the attacker value is so low at the end of the battle.
