North of Stalino another section of cut off Germans.

No harm here just an annoyance.

My first large attack up north.

I don't have enough mp's. The task seems very difficult.

Not sure how I can clear the 39 or 29 cv.

final turn 15 north

I resign myself to having to build up for another turn.

I attempt right hand hook. closer but the defense is building up here.

I fear better Russian units await me on any push to the third line.

rr now over river west of VV

Final Stalino

I seal pocket west of Stalino and put pressure on city. I think there was some industry, maybe not.

I also cross river just north of the city.

Problem is the rr is very far away. you can see repair unit in top left picture.

also if you look at the photo I have retreated 2 mech units to be near the rr repair. the 18 - 18 mech is on top.

Well they will be there 2 or 3 turns and still mp's only get to 40 eventually. Seems a little low if units never move and are 5 6 hexes from rr.

A Russian cav sneak attack cuts the main German rr supply line at critical junction.

Due to mud, closing on the cav units and sealing the breach is impossible.

Units are hustled in to stop a turn 17 further cav thrust.

This rescue unit from Germany is railed in to stop a movement down the rr line.
It was the only German unit, except city sec defenders to be able to reach this crucial hex.

Also Tank units are retreated to stop the cav unit from moving SE.

Overall most armor in the far north are considered out of supply with mp's to supply over 100.

A true major FUBAR.

My attack on Cherepovets seems highly doubtful of success. Shoot the weather man!

Final north:

I fence in the breach. mp's next turn will be beyond bad. I do hqbuild where able.

my rr repair unit is not even on rail. They are marching overland to work on the rr the southern fork.
The north rr fork must be cleared first. probably 2 turns, thus now will use lower line.

Planning ahead I move by rr tank corp to try Snow turns attempt to get to Leningrad.
Also to back up area in case lines are this porous for blizzard

A problem is the rr line is far behind the front lines.

final south

I push thru Stalino as Russians keep retreating.

Please note my mech unit near rr is now only a 22-20. Some increase.

17 Last clear

Post by BrianG »

Russian recon spots my tank movement going west for future snow action south of Leningrad.

Due to this (spooked), I alter plans and only release one tank division for this area. The rest rr back east near VV.

Uturn.

Good recon job by hyla.
He might have missed the movement if my top rr blue tank had been a few hexes further south on the rr.

You can also see on the right my placement to corral that Cav unit which broke thru last turn

South open.

These Russian bomber sweeps looks like Cobra attacks. Carpet bombing.

All sorts of patterns actually.

Also please note my Red tanks near the rr are only now a 25-40. 3 turns not moving and near rr.

17 Last clear Kerch attack

Post by BrianG »

So this is the story.

The glorious Rumanians have advanced so far that they have been told by their leaders that they are the greatest force in the East,
and that capture of Kerch will seal the Rumanian destiny forever.

Under a mostly Rumanian force with a few German Engineers attached to 1 German division, history marches on.
