The forts at Leningrad have progressed nicely with some already lvl 2. I push my CAV further down the coast and reinforce the northern neck. I bring in a 4th CAV division. You can barely make out the other 3 CAV division already behind the lines.

You can see the raiding CAV units to the West. No rail is coming this way so they are just there to make the Germans flip control of hexes back and just waste time on them instead of pushing East.

Massive checker defense. Pros and cons to this but at the moment I want to know which way the German wave is going and react accordingly. Remember I am railing in all units to where I need them above moving industry & factories. I am basically playing the numbers game.

Turn 7 VL BoT

Again Brian is pushing this area causing major loses to my division. Again I dread seeing this more than seeing 5-8 units being surrounded. In the early game I really think this is a good tactic to use because of the extra loses sustained by the Soviets and the ease at which the Germans can Hasty attack all day long. If you do this correctly there is nothing but shells of Soviets divisions and a mass breakout after 3-5 turns of doing this that won't be able to be controlled or recovered from.
