AI Mech Infantry

Has anyone seen the AI unload it's infantry passengers and deploy them to good use? I have not played enough to have a lasting opinion, but what I have seen is that Mech Infantry are cannon fodder in a long range direct fire fight and never get a chance to deploy. Historically, the handling of Mech Infantry by the war game AIs has been a huge challenge.
