Explain the drifting radius circles

Post by BlackMoria »

Got the game and did a couple of scenarios the other night. I noticed something that I can't find in the manual PDF.

During one scenario, a series of radius circles appeared on the left side of the map and started drifting from left to right across the map. They for the most part were a white colored radius circle but occasionally they changed to a dashed line and then back to a solid line.

What the hell are they?

Can I disable them because without knowing their purpose, they are as annoying as hell?

Those are illumation flares that the AI is firing. The area inside the circle is illuminated.

They are drifting because wind can carry them. Wind is also an important factor when laying the smoke barrage.

If you use the map detail hot keys, Ctl + F10 to lower the settings and Shift +F10 to increase the settings you will get rid of the rings and see the area illuminated itself when you are on the maximum setting.
