You can load aircraft on them because they can also act as transports carrying supply. The aircraft will of course be in stowed state and therefore disabled upon being offloaded, just like when you load a/c on xAK or AKs (or APs with cargo capacity).

Petros made a statement that he thought AEs "could not load a group". GetAssista said AEs can only load supply. I tested to show that AE can indeed load aircraft. Petros will have to decide what he wants to do with that additional info.

Thanks guys! Really useful info! Cancelling the move mode on KNIL regiments for now. With AE loading groups - great thing! Did not know that. I mainly use the fast 16-18 knot AKs/xAKs for bringing the groups to Suva or Australia, and these fast AEs can of course do this work, too. I would convert them.

Great thing that AKEs can load torps on DDs - I somehow thought that only ADs can. Then, I can of course use my AKEs.

Never had the need to use the functionality I guess, because AKEs usually go straight to the frontlines.

Yeah, just load the aircraft first before you load the supply or, if the tender is full, you will have to off-load some supply to allow the aircraft to load. When I made the AKE/AE TF, the game did not allow for an Air Transport TF so you will have to use the Transport TF option. A cargo TF is offered, but that type cannot carry aircraft.

You do lose some capacity in the conversion from xAK to tender (of any kind), so be good with that before you do the change. e.g. the Lassen xAKs go from 6800 ton capacity to 5400 as an AE.

Allies have so much material, that I prefer specializing and keeping ship usage to their intended role. Helps with organizing and tracking in my view. Thus I often route AKEs differently from the usual xAK supply paths.

We got a sync bug... His replay shows Kongo and Haruna untouched near singers, my replay shows Kongo sunk by 4 Vildebeest/Swordfish torps, and Haruna also hit by 2 or 3...

His replay is the correct one. [:(] Sync bugs can be annoying, I've had submarines sink CVs only to have the CVs be undamaged in reality.

Yes, his is correct.

Just sent in my next turn, and if all goes well, we have first carrier battle of the war. Ente and Lex are running at flank speed to Kaga. She moved 5 or 6 hexes to Johnson Island, and probably goes to Kwajelein, at least on straigh west course. I will be 2-3 hexes away, so fine for devastators. Then I retreat to Pearl Harbour, my fuel calculation shows it is ok. Then to West coast. As of now, I am not spotted. I also started out all transports and minesweepers from Johnson to act as bait for bombers. KB is 26 hexes to the south near Washington Island, 3 hexes SE of Palmyra, except if he runs at flank speed to me already this turn he cant catch me. Of course, Kaga may be a bait or so, and he calculated it perfectly, but ok, then its boom. He is agressive, but I am too. KB is probably not able to run this turn at least, as his refueling group now came closer to it. if he runs, I have some unspotted destroyers to chase the tankers...

I started the evac shuttle from Singapore to Batavia. Small xAKLs and xAPs in 1 ship TFs ferry out the unrestricted guys like Australians and Indians. They will then rail to Tjilatjap and go to India or Australia from there.

He landed at Mersing, so its Mersing Gambit. Many boys are however out of danger by now, only 2 brigades and a few BFs still cut off. I still hold the railroad with australian brigade, and he has only 1500 men in Mersing so far.

I thought I could catch his carriers, but Kaga disappeared. His KB also disappeared the turn after, and I am now leaving PH area just for sure.... He could have gone south from Palmyra down to the map edge, east, west or north... I rebased some Cats to the . base, not sure which island it is. Had an AVD hiding there.

His subs are massacring the small transports evacuating singers. He also has a small SCTF there, I am moving 2 CA 3 CL 8 DD SCTF to try to kill them instead....

His subs show alot of activity near suva. As many surface ships just arrived, I made 5 or 6 DD based ASW groups, and placed extremely agressive commanders on those DDs.
