Aerial Recon with Airships

Post by Pocus »

Hi,

Using some US Airships for recon, it seems that the 'light up hexes' indicating detection are from the start to the destination and all along the path of the airship. Is it a graphical glitch or the airship recon all along its path? Does it applies as well to others airplanes? I never really tried long range recon to see if it works along the path.

Maritime Bombers (cheapest option) & Strategic Bombers have the longest range and are the best for recon.

Airships aren't very durable but cheap.

I would hope someone who works for the company would be more pleasant

In my initial read on the thread I thought you were talking about best recon planes.

It was early and I am old

Right, I was also grumpy, I stand corrected...

I'm still interested in my initial question though [;)]

Difficult to tell.
Often enough the hexes are not enlightened after the recon flight.
I only know that I saw this with regular planes too. And than again not. Can't tell what is happening. Even though I guess it is in the end a glitch or bug.

I can't answer your question either, but the whole air recon mechanic in the game makes no sense to me at this scale. You don't send a whole Luftflotte out to do air recon. You would send one or a handful of aircraft at most to do recon missions. If it were my game I would abstract it so that each air unit gets one recon within range of the unit, and that does not count as an air mission for the unit. That way the unit is free to conduct a normal operation in addition to the recon.

Recon should be for all air units along their path and the adjacent hexes along the path (including Airships)... but I can confirm there is a bit of a bug in there that causes it to not work in all instances, after looking into this again on my end and after xwormwood mentioned this too, and this will be fixed for the next update.
