Supply/Porter Unit; Vietnam '65 to '75 use

Okay, the supply unit has 1 porter unit. How do you use this unit?
God made man, but Sam Colt made them equal.

See 8.3 in the manual.

Hello,

8.3 is obtuse, at best. Must the "supply unit", no mention of a porter, be in the hex of a specific unit I want enhanced?

Supply Units – Increases the Supply Level in
each supplied location that can trace a path no
longer than the Supply Radius to the Supply
unit.

See the "Supply View" shown on Page 57. These hex values are increased if a supply unit is within a supply radius of them.

The amount of increase depends upon whether Old Supply Rules or New Supply Rules are being optioned. This is shown in the chart on Page 59.

Additionally, Supply units multiply supply
distribution to adjacent Cooperative units by
1.5.

So, just like a cooperative HQ unit, they also enhance supply in this way. So, if the unit was going to receive 4 supply without the supply unit, it will receive 6 supply if one is adjacent (stacked-with counts as adjacent).

There is no effect on Unsupplied locations.

Supply units are NOT supply sources. They enhance the delivery of whatever supply is actually available to the hex.

You would have to ask the scenario designer why he put a single porter squad in the supply unit. But its effect is that the unit will move at the foot rate, and will be very easy to eliminate (so devote some protection to it).
