I think what happens is that German tank production is pretty high in 1942 and the new tanks are much more effective than the earlier models. So during the blizzard you are destroying PzII's and such and then they are refilling with PzIII and PzIV models. Beating them up just keeps them from attempting a bad-weather offensive in early 1942, keeps them off your back until June.

That Axis early 42 strength is imperative in my eyes and holding ground unless absolutely critical in it's value is likely never going to be worth losing too many AFV
Axis AFV production might bump up and refill eventually but by that time your offensive dreams are going to be all but over in all but some very rare circumstances as once you cannot hold the initiative as Axis you're reeling from your enemies initiative and attempting the odd tactical riposte once you get to 42

2300 AFV holy cow that's a bloody good beating
Once you have corps the Soviets won't be able to crack you anywhere without some incredibly sneaky offensives [X(]
