Is 2x TT hits by Dutch sub on CV Hiryu with reports of heavy damage enough to sink her? This was done just one hex off Perth.

If Japan knows what they are doing, probably not. She might make for the closest base and meet up with one of Japan's two AR to facilitate counter flooding pump out....you might have an opportunity there.

Reminds me of the time I seriously damaged the Soryu/Zuikaku near Luganville and setup a series of subs on their predicted route back to Rabaul at slow pace. I believe I had 8-10 "hit but no explosion" messages. Frustrating.

Dec 18th:

Dutch air force flies to her death at Merak and Tjepoe. Almost 50 planes destroyed.

My opponent kept them on the ground so they wouldn't give me easy experience. Not sure it made any difference in the long run. What do you think?

While the game pace get 2 to 4 turns per weekday and 3 to 5 on weekends, I've chosen doing turn vs AAR updates. The war goes on with Japan getting maybe a little too greedy down around Fiji. Nathan has a habit and we know what happens when a players gets too predictable. [:-]

The pattern that Nathan has used throughout the war is moving his warships in the shallow water hexes when ever possible. I had moved some subs from Sydney to Pago Pago and then flooded the area. [:)]

The first two sub attacks were from S-boats using the MK-10 torpedo which was smaller and not as prone to being defective as the MK-14. Then to add insult to injury the fleet boat with the defective MK-14s has two work. This has to be considered the greatest few days of the silent service in 1942 in the history of WITPAE! He must not have had dedicated many air assets to ASW.

He had most of KBs Kates flying ASW when she first got hit. Very few when she went down at Nadi. He reported he had to put her in port due to damage. Since he lives in Brisbane it was nice to see 1 of 2 Aussie subs finish her off. [:)]

We have just reached 7 Dec '43.

Started on 10 Apr 2018.

A very good pace of flipping turns.

Damn that is a lot of turn-flipping. I think John and I started in a roughly similar time frame (well 2 months later in June) and its only just the first few days of 9/42.

I think so. Shooting down planes normally adds one EXP point on a pretty regular basis, and it tends to be that bonus that helps push pilot EXP up beyond the 65-70 EXP mark.

Of course, you can build EXP by just flying CAP, but it's a much longer and drawn out process.

At the very least, it's a smart move to let the Dutch planes get destroyed on the ground, as given the disparity in airframes they're essentially free kills for the Japanese with minimal chances of attrition to Japanese air power.

I see 0 - 4 exp for each plane shot down by my pilots. Sometimes there is also a skill boost of 1- 2 pts.
