After all these years I still can't figure out....

Forum dedicated to the Scourge of War Game set during the Napoleonic Wars. Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. It is by far the most detailed game about the final battle of the War of the Seventh Coalition.

easily how to turn off the "follow" command. I can turn it on ok with F but when I try to turn it off with F it doesn't work. I end up hitting every button on the keyboard until it releases but I know there is an easier way....So how do you turn off FOLLOW?

from the manual:

F Use this as a “Follow” key to make the camera move with the
selected commander or unit. Press “F” again to be able to use the
“Q” and “E” keys to swivel the camera while the commander or unit
moves. Pressing the “F” key again unselects the “Follow” command.
When the “Follow” command is selected, an “F Arrow” icon will
appear on the Toolbar.

Don't see why the first Follow mode even exists...who wants to follow a leader but not be able to pivot his view point??

Did you try pressing F a 2nd time?

Pressing F once initiates follow mode.
Pressing F again enables swiveling the camera.
Pressing F a third time terminates follow mode.

Yes, I pressed F a second time, but the question is why the first press of F does not turn on Follow and allow swiveling, with the second press turning it off...

That's just the way they did it. Its been like that for over a decade. Is it really that big of a deal to hit it twice?

Is it really that big of a deal to ask about GUI design choices that don't seem to make sense?

Sure it is not a game-breaker but I would think that the devs would want to streamline the GUI to the extent possible via various incremental improvements, including this one. There is already a fair bit of clicking going on...
