I assume that you have necessary HQs (army/corps + command) and all LCUs prepped 100%. Still kinda strange to see AV adjusted downwards so much. Anyways, the carnage is onesided with yours being majorly disablements. And you have more VP harvested from revived units the longer the siege lasts (not that I advocate to prolong it to eternity)
Edit: scratch that "strange", seems like this AV reduction is a regular occurrence in big sieges even against a hopelessly outgunned opponent.

I see you did not paint many of the dot bases in the DEI. Sneaky snoopy Catalinas can make you regret this later [:)]

Thanks GetAssista, always appreciate your input.

yep all the required HQs are there and everyone is prepped. His raw Av started at 12K and after the latest it is now 4K so hopefully the end is in sight. Strangely the forts still stand at 5! Disruption and fatigue after each attack is massive and slowing me down.

Your right about the DEI- I just got too lazy at the end of the day.

Fall of Chungking

It finally fell in mid May. Hardest I have ever had to fight for the capital and in the first few months little progress was made.

Interestingly, despite some good play from my opponent the whole of China has now been conquered at a reasonable date allowing me to redeploy the vast hordes of the IJA to the Pacific and especially Burma (when political points are available).

Of course I could have a crack at the Soviets as well........[:D]

India

Some pretty nasty battles raging here around Calcutta. Having quite a bit of experience of playing in India and learning from some previous mistakes, once I realised Bombay could not be taken the IJA concentrated at a couple of key locations and fortified Madras, Calcutta and Diamond Harbour.

Calcutta has been providing ample supply which has allowed me to fortify the position to 8 and Diamond Harbour 6. Mike had to shock attack as he came across the river at both locations and has declined to press any harder due to losses. There has been no attack on Madras and Ceylon is also strongly held.

Last turn a deliberate attack threw the Allied forces out of Diamond Harbour with heavy losses.

China

Evident here is the redeployment of the IJA from China into Burma.

Given the losses suffered it is unlikely Mike will press the assault into Calcutta. Most likely he will bypass and head up the Burma Coast but there are plenty of troops on the way or already there to block him.

Oz

Mike is coming up here as his main axis of assault. Burma and India will be designed to tie down large amounts of the IJA whilst he surges into the DEI and perhaps into the Northern Pacific.

Through our wonderful dialogue during the game I note he has made mention several times my main strength being land combat. I believe he will select an approach where I am weaker- naval and air.

Anyway will find out soon.

Scoreboard May 43

His navy is largely untouched and he is doing well in the air. His ground forces have been pretty beat up especially the Commonwealth and Chinese forces.

Jan 44

I have been very slow with the updates but Mike and myself have been setting a very good pace with the turns.

The size and intensity of the clashes have significantly increased as he moves up the chain around PNG.

Will post some more updates shortly but 44 is shaping up to have some epic battles. [:D]

Continuing the long tradition of only posting great victories snapshots (never defeats, bad for morale), 40 IJN warships of various sizes were committed to preventing an Allied lodgement around Lae. Ultimately the Empire failed but as always the IJN can extract a price at night.

This taskforce ultimately slipped past multiple Fletcher TFs to wreak some retribution.[:D]

Score board

I have been hammering him on the ground, Mike has been hammering me in the air and on the oceans it is roughly a draw.

Still hold Calcutta after some nasty battles but unfortunately its days are numbered with no supply.

There will be no rescue mission attempted as Mike has ensured any attempt would be incredibly costly. I can say good bye to approx 4 divs and supporting arms but they definitely inflicted substantial casualties on the Commonwealth forces.

PNG

Allies smashing their way through here though at cost. The P47 is the game changer at the moment with its high alt sweeps coupled with 4E bombers on my airstrips. Overall though when it comes a2a pretty happy with the results (aside from the P47) using mixed altitudes settings and largely Franks and Georges.

One key strength of NYGiant's game is the amount of time and focus he spends on his pilots. His pilots are superb (especially in the P47s) and I have noticed a key difference here compared to other games.

The intent here is make him bleed but not lose anything too valuable.

To counter the P47 and advanced brother I have turned to the airframe that has never let me down in the past-Frank R

As you can see I have focused significant energy here to get this onto the front line as quickly as possible. In previous games it has made a massive contribution and I am hoping it can repeat its magic.

*Supplies are a lot of lower in this game due to the additional toys the Empire has received. It has taken a bit more effort in this game not to crash the economy.

The other key air frame is the George which is also being prioritised and fast tracked.

In this scenario it is CV capable which makes it utterly compelling. In its initial clashes against the hellcat it is shaping up nicely.

I am following this with interest. I am particularly interested to see how the George performs against the Corsair and how much higher service levels affects your carriers ops. Will you switch R&D over to the 2nd generation George once the factories are built? Is it possible to do so without loss of factories?

Hi Anachro, yes I could see why this match would be of interest to you [:D]

A few additional comments below:

* George has been performing well against the 1st Corsair variant.
* After the first George the others have a service rating of 2 so no probs with serviceability.
* At Mike's request this game is realistic R&D off so yes I will be switching them over to the final version of the George. I have plenty Ha-43 engines stockpiled for this to occur. There will be no loss of factories.

Whilst I did previously state in your AAR to be cautious, my gut feel suggests regardless of the losses you may sustain, the sooner you are bombing the homeland the happier you will be. I don't think you want to give the Empire time and space here to really develop and build up their air capability.

The current version on carriers is below:

Major ship losses

Very limited given the scale of fighting for both sides.

Akagi fell to a clever sub trap and Junyo burnt up from a skip bombing attack from B25s.

31 Dec 43 was a particularly good day for the Empire with 2 x British BBs and a CVE nailed.

A/C production last turn

The scale of the build up and stock piling of critical engines and air frames is going well. The name of the game is Mr Frank and Mr George.
