Soft Crash or a Hanging issue.

Post by rysgame »

So, have an issue with CMANO. I am above the minimum specs of the game for this SP 4 (i5-7300U, 8Gb RAM, Integrated Graphics, 128Gb HD) but the game constantly freezes and soft crashes (mouse still moves around, music/sound still going, and it sounds like the game itself is still "playing" but not visual change.) That tells me its a GPU issue, but the game does not need a dedicated card, especially since the game interface is basically just low res google earth. I have tried the CMANO discords and such, they are at a a loss.
The Game freezes up after anywhere from 5-30min. Requiring a game reboot to play. Also, it will freeze at the main menu as well.

No error message at all. I usually have to kill it with task manager, in the processes tab, sometimes I cant kill it in the regular "apps" tab.
Also, I am running Win10
Troubleshooting Performed:
Clean Install of CMANO
Validate Files (2 fail and are reacquired, this seems to happen on occasion, no idea why.)
Driver Updates
Explored CMANO communities to see what they may know.
Different Resolutions, but the game plays in a window anyways.
Checked discussions on steam.
Compatibility Modes for Win 7 and Win 8 tried.
Run as Administrator

DxDiag attached.

Is this for any scenario, or a specific one?

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 17134) (17134.rs4_release.180410-1804)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)

System Model: Surface Pro
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7300U CPU @ 2.60GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM

User DPI Setting: 144 DPI (150 percent)
System DPI Setting: 192 DPI (200 percent)

Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 620
Display Memory: 4186 MB
Dedicated Memory: 128 MB
Shared Memory: 4058 MB
Current Mode: 2736 x 1824 (32 bit) (59Hz)

games hang for a few reasons, and mostly is permissions, but also it can be lack of resources, with you'res being somewhat low on the GPU side, with no way to update it either

Also besides running the game as admin, you might also have to run Steam client.

How to Run Steam as Administrator:

- Navigate your Steam installation file (By default, it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam).
- Right-click the Steam executable.
- Follow the above steps to set it to Run as Administrator.
- Restart Steam.

if that doesn't help, try a clean boot, with next to nothing loaded on the boot, as see if that free's up enough to get the game lasting longer

I seem to of figured it out, testing it now by letting it idle for a few more minutes, but I unchecked a box in Steam/Settings/Interface - Directwrite. So far no issues. I have been fighting this battle for almost 2 months, if this is the fix, I cannot believe it was this simple.

And @michaelm75au, no specific scenario or anything. This would happen at the main menu immediately following a fresh boot and just having started CMANO.

Hi,

If this is on Steam, have a look at the tech portion of the guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 1374061499 (section "Current Steam Issues and Workarounds"). Thanks.
