I would like an explanation for this!

I have decided, in my own methodical way, to play a duel with Recon titans until I have figured out the system.

I started this morning, and have played 8 matches, with a total of 16 titans. (8 for me, 8 for the computer)

I have designed only a couple of titans, and so generally have just what was available with the program. I did not delete any, either.

My question, and my complaint, is the random selection of the titans.

In the 8 matches, these are the following computer selections:
Hammer (twice)
Badger (twice)
Quantum (three times)
Pike (5 times!!!!!!)

All other recons, 30 or so of them, a TOTAL of 4 times.

This is not acceptable. The Pike sucks hard, with ONLY LRM-6's (lost all 5 times).

The chances that an individual titan would be selected for a match is 2/32, or about a 6% chance. This has happened 4 times, already.

I don't want to even attempt to determine the chances of a single titan being selected 5 times in 8 games.

I suspect that the answer would be less than 1/10th of 1 percent.

So, this is a programming problem. How best to fix it?

I realize that the sample size is small, only 8 games...I will continue to document my results.

Most likely, it's a function of weights. Depending on what skill level you choose for you and your opponent, the game gives your team a total weight, and then fits titans into it. If there's an odd weight allowance left on the team, it tries to fit the closest one into it. So titans with weights under the maximum tend to show up in random matches more often than the ones at the limit. At least, that's how it seems to me. Larkin could tell you better, of course. :)
We sometimes catch a window
A glimpse of what's beyond
Was it just imagination
Stringing us along?
More things than are dreamed about
Unseen and unexplained
We suspend our disbelief
And we are entertained

I will look into it. Seems the start weight for duel titans for each class is too low.

I should have made myself more clear.

I ONLY choose single titan, recon class, duel.

This guarantees me a recon titan....easier to learn with.

Now, after 16 matches (32 total titans):
Pike: 6 times
Quantum: 6 times
Wasp: 5 times
Badger: 4 times
Fireball: 4 times

So, 25 of the 32 total titans have been these 5 titans.

I have developed a liking for the fireball! Three flamethrowers can ruin your day if you can get close!
