Korsun Pocket won't run! Hangs on black screen... help!

I just got a new Alienware PC and Korsun Pocket doesn't seem to want to run.

My system:

Intel 3.0 ghz processor
1 gig RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Soundblaster Audigy 2

When I click Play Korsun Pocket, the three intro cinematics play just fine but then the screen goes black and just hangs there. I waited for over a minute just to be sure but nothing came up. I can click CTRL ALT DEL and End Task and it closes down.

In order to pinpoint this problem, it may (or may not) be useful to describe some problems I'm having with a few other games.

Pirates of the Caribbean won't work either. When I try to load that game, the screen goes black and I can hear the opening cinematic but I cannot see it. Afterwards, the program fails to load and drops me back to the desktop.

With Mafia, the opening cinematics would not play properly. That game gave me an error message that mentioned I was missing some Indeo Codecs. Skipping through that error message, the opening cinematics could be skipped at which point the game would load and play just fine. (Best game ever made.)

After reading up on it, I found out that new versions of XP don't come with those Indeo codecs anymore. I looked on the ligos website and I saw that they wanted $20 for them. No thanks! (If there was a free version, I didn't find it but I didn't look that hard.)

I Googled the indeo codecs and found a patch at a BigCityGames Pet Soccer website located here. That page had a file called IVSetup dated 5/13/03 which I downloaded and installed. That seemed to install the Indeo codecs that I needed.

Didn't help Korsun Pocket but Mafia works perfectly now. Pirates still crashes.

I also downloaded a Microsoft fix for the following problem: "Game Stops Responding (Hangs) or Quits Unexpectedly When Introductory Video Clip Is Played" I downloaded and installed the patch located here:

I thought that would fix my problems but it didn't either.

So now Korsun Pocket, the best hex based wargame EVER MADE, the game CGW gave 5 out of 5 stars, WON'T WORK!

Can somebody please help? I'd be very grateful.
