Is there a play back option with this game?

Nice thought, but no. You can go through the Commander's Report "battles" tab and click through to the battle report and/or go to the map with f11 pushed and click on each hex for battle reports. The order they appear in the Commander's Report might be the order the battles took place but no guarantees.

The battle reports do give lots of useful information - enemy commanders, headquarters attachment, presence of support units in different HQ's, air units (and some sense of air ranges depending on how many planes showed up), relative strength of enemy units (from the reported CV's), and casualties, of course.
