Black Gold Blitz Save Game Bug

When playing Black Gold Blitz, one of the following happens when loading a save game:
a) Several error dialogs appear, starting with an OnThreadExeption

b) The file is opened without errors, but no unit icons are visible when zoomed out. You have to zoom in and then the icons suddenly appear (at least some of them).

These bugs do not occur with all save games, but quite often. It happens regardless which side I play. Therefore this DLC is practically not playable for me. Did not have any such problems with Pole Positions and Commonwealth Collision.
Command version is 1.14 Build 998.17.

The data in (a) seems to mismatch with what is expected in the save.
