"Popping" noise in ambient audio

Post by Voidhawk »

Using the Core battlefield, I get an odd "popping" noise throughout the ambient sound (ambient3.wav). There's a definite pattern to it, with the first "pop" a few seconds after game start, and then two more successive "pops" a few seconds later. This pattern of "pops" seems to loop in time with the audio, though the .wav file itself sounds clean outside of the game.

I haven't had any problems with any other audio in WS. Only workaround I've found is to disable the ambient sound on Core maps.

Anyone else getting this?

This is already repaired. Its just being approved. The fix will then be available.

Thank god..

This was driving me crazy. At first I thought its my Nforce2 soundcard but then again all the other games are working fine. Hopefully the fix comes soon. :)

Just disable ambient sound in case you might go crazy before it is patched.

Non-expert quick fix: While in Battle press F4 to bring up the options and set the ambient to off.

Expert quick fix: Remove any text that may be in the Ambient3.wav file and resave it as the same file, same name, same everything.
*Audio Drivers sometimes read this text as audio resulting in the big popping sound.
You may need to update the audio cards drivers. But I can't give specific advise on this until I know the audio cards or drivers in question.

If that wasnt the only sound problem.... but there is another, very nasty one. The music starts, but after a while, suddenly, it stops, and 1 second later, the music goes on, but about 30 seconds farther....... This happens about ten times a minute!

Sorry for my bad english, i dont know if anyone is able to understand it. Is there anyone else speaking german?

Did you install the directx that came with TOSWS?

Quickfix: Press F4 during battle and switch the music to off.
