Germany and Japan don't exchange supply

Post by Bylandt11 »

In one game Germany conquered India, with the help of Japan. After India surrendered all Japanese units got stuck in India with 0 supply.

In another game I played Japan (Germany and Italy played by the AI). Japan finally conquered the last Soviet capital, at which point the land was divided. The Japanese army groups ended up in the middle of the German part, without any supply.

If you can get supply in enemy territory, shouldn't you at least get the same in allied territory?

As I recall there's something about cooperating and non-cooperating allies. You'd have the same issue with US units in Russia. This can be be changed in one of the settings.

Thanks. Found it in the rules. Japan is a non-cooperating major. The rules say the other axis powers don't get supply in Japanese territory, but apparently it also works the other way round.

It can't be changed in the "preferences" or the advanced settings, but it can be edited.

I understand the reason behind this. Japan isn't at war with the USSR and allowing Japanese and German units in each other countries could lead to some gamey tactics. But still, if Japan saves Germany by backstabbing the USSR, its units should at least be allowed to leave normally (it took me a full year to exit my 5 HQ's). Not letting Japan and German units enter each other's territory makes sense. Not giving them supply when they do, doesn't.

Exactly where can you edit this? I would like to make that change as well.

Open the editor. Open 1939 campaign (.cgn file). Edit country data. Japan. Check the "cooperative" box under "status". Save under new name. Haven't tested it, but that should do it.
