New to game

Post by rdw5150 »

Hi!

Looking for a cool theater level game with at least so-so AI.

But this game seems SUPER complicated........

Did I bite off more than I can chew?

I am old time wargamer (I play ASL so complexity not an issue).

Should I look elsewhere? Not looking for checkers mind you, but not looking to micro manage every little thing.

Peace

Roger

Just stay on an even keel and expect a bit of a learning 'cliff' rather than curve. A terrific community here of people supporting each other. You'll be fine!

how well does it PBEM (once I get it down)?

Is there a European Theater sister game to this one?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Roger!

Some of the scenarios might be right up your alley. Still lots of complexity, rules, and mechanics to learn, but not the potentially overwhelming numbers of ships, planes, and land units that are all waiting for your orders in the full campaign game. The AI is ok and challenging enough for a beginner, but this game REALLY shines in PBEM!

There is no European sister game to WitP AE. War in the East and War in the West are big, complex, and challenging, but much more similar to each other than either is to WitP AE.

For PBEM, this is the finest game ever made, IMO.
