scotland!

Post by Belisarius »

Hey guys, it looks like I'm going on a small 12-day hiatus to Scotland in September w/ a couple of buddies.

We don't have a strict schedule, we're arriving/departing at Newcaste travelling by car and plan to see the 'obvious' historical sites, as many destilleries as possible and do some hiking as well.

Enough of that, here's the question; Are there any museums/displays in Scotland with WWII armor worth seeing? :p

That stuff rusts ya know.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Yes but....

If you're interested, there's plenty of non-WWII military history there though.

Check out Fort George near Inverness, home of the Scottish Regiments - very impressive.

(Or is this one of the 'obvious' historical sites.... )

Cheers,

Fort George is an excellent place to visit, gives you the history of the Highland Regiments from way back to the 1st Gulf War. Culloden is just down the road, a little bit comercial but worth a look, at least we English came out on top in that one.
It only hurts if they hit you!

Reg,

Thanks, we will probably pass the Inverness area so I'll nag the others about a visit. It's not 'obvious' like Edinburgh Castle-obvious, so it'd be nice to check out and at least for me the Highland regiments are amongst the 'known' Royal Army units.

The fort itself looks very impressive. :)
