mortars

Post by Poliorcetes »

ok, so I have the engagement range set but I can't tell if my mortars are firing or not. I have started manually picking targets. But there is no easy way to see how many rounds I have launched at a target. The artillary section of the manual only seems to deal with off board artillary.
help?

There may be a better way, but the one way I know how to monitor mortars is to click on one of the mortar unit icons, in the unit details box you will see the number of mortar rounds available count down as they are fired.

Thanks, that's the only way I know so far. The manual seems to suggest there is a counter somewhere, though perhaps that is just for off board arty and not on board (haven't used off board yet).

Yes, there is another way, a simple way which you should have noticed. When you select to fire on a target, an orange box appears around the target and also an orange line from the mortar firing to this orange box. When you select the number of rounds to fire, this number of rounds will appear above the orange line halfway between mortar to target. Every time the mortar fires, this number will decrease by 1. You can select 5 rounds, single rounds or multiples of those figures. Avoid FFE, if you forget the mortars are firing and fail to "Check Fire", you will use up your whole allocation.

You should also recognise the sound the mortars make to know that they are firing.
